Folks, we've just done a little clean-up on a few of today's posts.

Let's keep any remaining conversation constructive and helpful, and within the rules and spirit of these forums, if you please.

Thanks

Well, unless it's a photo theme thread, this is usually what happens....Personally, I am tired of the Pentax is slow focusing, their models are behind the technology....it's all BS. The K-1, KP (& to a lesser extent, the K-3ii) have such great IQ, they surpass most of the current offerings. Plus, if you want slow focusing, try a $7,000 Leica M10. Pentax has so many ground breaking features, if there is a weak link to Pentax, it's their marketing department.

I remember in the 1960's and 1970's, camera manufacturers would role out a new camera every three to five years. This constant creation of new, new, newer is just a waste. Example: most people who bought K-3's didn't upgrade to K-3ii's --at least no immediately. Why? prudent manufacturers don't cheapen their prior models by saturating annual flows of "new"models. Evolutionary changes over time then create revolutionary ideas.

DP Reviews is an Amazon marketing arm: they know they can sell more CanIkonOny models. Why? because Pentax/RICOH do little or no marketing. In fact, this Forum is one of their best marketing tools. Cheers....kill this thread--we know the K-1 ii is excellent, we know Pentax is excellent....the end.

As an aside, the KP has the same technology and is a beast in low light. Having both, I can attest to the decent images up to 12,500 ISO, but with a "limited" lens perhaps to 25,000--I just never had to use that much speed...
I won't make any claims of quality for these previously posted images from my KP - each at ISO = 204800, but I do feel good about the way colors are preserved {I did have to hand-focus in LV}

Phew that was a bit hard to read through google translate. I think he was happy, not sure. Wide open looks better than the Canon 50 1.2 imho but both are very nice, the difference is small, the price is not.

Pentax could have been a little creative. A light weight, lower end FF with 24Mpix ...to close the gap between K70 and K1-ii

The KP already is in that gap, the K-3ii replacement will go higher in that gap, and a lower end 24mp FF is also a possibility at some point. Don't assume a lack of cameras planned based on what is available right now.

Yeah. Make it manual focus only with a traditional split prism and remove the rear screen (wifi to smartphone instead), give it a LX style body and viewfinder. Lots of fun with all those legacy lenses and cheap too!

But who exactly is going to buy this sort of camera? They are doing exactly what they need to do....... finish their APS-C high spec camera then maybe look at what you might want.

This is just the opposite of what we have been seeing from Pentax lately - more sophisticated not simpler, more expensive not cheaper.

Yes, all niche manufacturers *do* have to be a little different, not 'fit in' with the Big Boys in a declining market, but this would probably be something akin to commercial suicide.

But if the market fell even further than Canon predicts, and people were actually willing to pay big bucks for it out of sheer joy, you'd greenlight it surely!

The K1 sells for $1300, it closes the gap between the KP and the K1 II.
