I think we are looking at DFA 70-200 f4 (not a star), some sort of DFA 70-300 variable aperture zoom (not a star), full frame fish eye zoom (not a star), and a "ultra wide angle" prime (not a star). The star lenses that remain (as currently on the map) are the 35-ishmm f1.4 and 85mm f1.4 and it doesn't sound as though either of those will be released this year. Of course, there is always the possibility that there is other stuff, not on the map, that could come out at some point.
Hopefully they will be able to release more than one lens in 2019.

But that is how it needs to be tested. Testing a lens without a camera means a diddly squat.
Only by testing the complete system, camera+lens one can get the whole picture (photo)
It means more than diddly squat. It just isn’t the whole story. Such tests compare one lens to another in controlled, identical conditions and seeking comparative information for specific, tested qualities.

Exactly. Real world experience. That is the only thing worth to the end user. Lab results can be indicative but also deceptive.
Testing individual lenses on individual cameras adds real world information to the objective test data so users can make truly informed compare and contrast decisions. Both have value.

Fairly comparing images shot on a particular camera requires some reasonable controls, such as constant exposure value, focus accuracy, scene and lighting consistency and sensor format, development software and software settings. Otherwise a compare and contrast is nothing more than subjective preference rating.

So the DFA*50/1.4 can and should be bench tested against all manner of top normals, including the Tokina Opera, and those results should be published and respected. Real world images should also be compared, understanding that the final image comparison is a matter of comment, taste and opinion

Clear. I have the DFA15-30, if the 11-18 was f4 covering the K1 image circle, I'd immediately sell the 15-30 and buy the 11-18 (f4).
But it'd probably drop off the radar of any APSC shooter, including myself.

There are 4 non * lenses on the roadmap - and only 2 D FA*s.
Who says everything under development is on the roadmap?

No idea - who says that?

D FA (non-*) lenses were released, and according to the public roadmap are planned in higher quantities than D FA*s. As it should be.
That's all I am saying.

Ricoh can take the Tamron 70-200 f4, and I'll be fine with that. The Tamron 70-200 f4 is an excellent lens.
They'd better be designing their own DFA*85 and let the f4 zoom be delivered by Tamron.
Lack of those 3 essential primes is what makes some customer switch over to another brand, that's bad.

There is no Tamron 70-200 f/4.
There's a Tokina 70-200 f/4, we'll see about that.

I'm thinking in terms of certain focal lengths that "everyone" expects to see in a lineup.
But facts show that your personal imagination of "everyone" is just a projection of your personal wishes.
In fact "everyone" expects to see other lenses.

Both Tamron 70-210/4 and Tokina 70-200/4 are very good performers. I would personally preffer Tamron becouse it's faster, and compatible with tap-in console by Tamron. Still I doubt that, Tamron will not licence one of their newest designs. And Ricoh probably don't see dock attachment compatibility as added value to rebrand sold as OEM lens.

Do you mean DFA* 50?
That star makes a large difference.
There is no starless DFA 50mm that people could confuse it with. The previous 50mm lens is FA. So it's pretty clear what people mean when they say DFA 50mm.

Pentax also believes this is the best lens they've made in the modern era, at least in terms of image quality:

"The HD PENTAX-D FA★ 50mmF1.4 SDM AW is a large-aperture, single-focus standard lens with a maximum aperture of F1.4, which ensures the highest image quality of all lenses designed for use with K-mount digital SLR cameras."

Well, I think the point is mainly that when the line up is completed you expect certain lenses to be there. Some are already there (15-30/24-70/70-200 f2.8, 100 macro, 50 f1.4etc). The bread and butter lenses that are waiting to be covered are a variable aperture 70-300, fastish wide prime, 85 f1.4 and 30-ish f1.4. I'm not saying that everyone "needs" or even wants those lenses, I just think that most of those are basic lenses that are expected in a complete lens line up.

Personally, my needs are mostly covered, although I would like a fast 85 with less PF than the FA 77 limited and 20-ish prime.

As far as who makes the lenses, it isn't a huge deal to me, but I do think that in the long run Pentax should design most of them as giving control over that process to Tokina or Tamron takes some of the shine off of the lens line up.

Actually not.
I am totally happy with my current lineup of Sigma 10-20mm, DA 18-135mm, and DA 55-300mm PLM.
Currently I have no expectation of getting a FF DSLR.

My list is based on what people keep asking for here and elsewhere.

added: Look at the exchange in posts #171, #172 on the previous page, for example.
