Worse, even if Pentax makes an 85, most of the people who want an 85 will be unhappy with it and witll complain bitterly on PF! (As they did with the DFA* 50/1.4.) The Survey proposed three different 85 mm variants and the votes were almost evenly split among f/1.4, f/1.8 and f/2 variants at different price points. The people who want big flagship DFA* 85/1.4 won't be happy with a slower lens and the people that want a smaller, less expensive 85 won't be happy with behemoth, $$$$ fast lens. Interestingly, more people wanted an updated 77/1.8 than wanted an 85/1.4 or any other 85 mm variant.
Remember film time line of lenses?
