It's like chicken & eggs. Business responds like an S shaped curve. There is a threshold at which the investment creates a virtuous cycle, and under this threshold the business slowly decay. It looks like Pentax failed to find the threshold or Ricoh top execs don't care about the camera business. I don't think other brands invest a lot more than Ricoh, it's just that Ricoh are too much on the low side to keep the customer base flourish. Yesterday I stumbled on Ricoh side for checking lenses from the 645, the site is corrupt, and I wonder how much it cost to get the web site right, THIS kind of thing triggers a Warning in me, because if a company as huge as Ricoh is not able to get a web page right, it tells volumes about how serious they are.
RICOH is a B2B company.
RICOH IMAGING is a B2C company.
The campany's genes decide what to do.
RICOH prefer to use PENTAX technology to his industrial product business.

What's more.
The PENTAX brand belongs to HOYA.
RICOH is only authorized to use.

My gut feeling is, before Ricoh had its really disappointing earnings year (03/2018 - $2.36) they had planned to invest a significant amount of money in Smart Vision (Imaging). I suspect Ricoh’s capital is somewhat constrained at the moment, and that the new Chairman is less enamored of Imaging than was the former.

Ricoh imaging has almost lost the market of 645&APS-C because of their inaction.

Full frame is good, needing more lenses, but not bad. When I looked at lenses for the 645 however, I was puzzled... mostly FA lenses, and not sure if the DFA28-45 is even available (it doesn't show in the 645 special site) and that lens cost twice as much as the Fuji 32-64 f4. The choice for MF is easy => Fuji. Pentax was #1 in this crop MF segment, they just had to invest to introduce a few lenses, how can this be that Fuji started from zero and now in a better position. That's the kind of thing I really don't understand.

2 years, one lens.
Far from ideal, but what matters is what will happen now. There are still 3 lenses scheduled for 2019... yet they only need one to beat the last 2 years' average

I think that lens is not in production anymore. I don't see it in places where you can order some of the other lenses.

It is on fire-sale in this shop wich looks like they going to stop sales on Pentax 645 when all is gone.

it's very encouraging...given how alive the 645 system seems to be, and given that I have zero Pentax MF lens to begin with, the choice of MF system is easy.

Nice compilation, very useful. Maybe Adam should make this a ‘sticky’ for easier quick reference

I am fairly certain there used to be a section of interviews by the forum with Pentax brand ambassadors. This is equally as interesting and I think it should also be included. Although I can no longer seem to find this section, maybe Adam would know what I am referring to.

I find that having no 85 1.4 for nearly fours after the launch of the K-1 a little perplexing.
