I am quite sure that lack of EVF is what doomed the K-01.
We have been over this ground lots of times.
Canon {EOS-M} and Sony {NEX-5} had similar cameras {i.e., without EVF}, and those also lingered, but those companies hung in there and came out with winners when they put EVF on later models.

Considering problems Pentax has had coming out with DFA lenses, I don't see how they could possibly add yet another line of lenses.
Design them, but outsource the production. That’s what they did with Q.

I suppose they could outsource the entire project to Tamron - they have a good designer, a good photographer {several Pentax 'refugees'}

Ricoh L mount mirrorless bodies would be nice. Especially if they offered a robust K mount adapter for them.

Then we could have our cake and eat it too -- Pentax K DSLRs and Ricoh L MILC with K adapter. Everyone is happy.

It would be smart too to diversify the portfolio of systems.. one helps the other until the market settles more...

Well you are a little off by the date, but earlier this year it is the 80th anniversary of Ricoh camera. I think Ricoh-Imaging would like to celebrate that.....or does no one care.
In the last few hours, Ricoh has made several "Pentax Centenary" announcements.
Announcement of PENTAX 100 YEARS OF HISTORY campaign - PentaxForums.com
KP custom,DFA*85/1.4 CP+ Exhibit - PentaxForums.com

They are a little sloppy, but they are good to see - Ricoh's heart is in the right place afterall.

Pentax could make another K-mount MILC if they wanted a MILC; I don't see any gain to a new mount.
Given Pentax's market share and glacial product pipeline, there is zero chance of a new MILC mount.

However the K-mount already supports both full-frame and APS-C and there are millions of lenses out there already.
A K-mount MILC makes a lot of sense at some point down the road. Yes the flange distance is longer than the new mounts from the competition, but who really cares.

MILC cameras are getting bigger and bigger every generation to the point where they are as big as DSLRs now anyway.

A lightweight MILC WR full-framed IBIS K-mount camera at a $1500 price point could get a lot of attention.

While they are at it open-source the K-mount to anyone who wants to make lenses for it.

And get a new generation of marketing people in. Print media marketing and invisible ambassadors are so last century.

Ricoh/Pentax actually has a lot going for it. They are already in the full-frame space unlike Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic (in, but huge mountain to climb for them)

the thing is that it would have to be less than 1300 to make impact.good business idea?

there is still time for a real surprise for CP+? there seems to be a little surprise with all big known ones so far. FA 35 HD with 11-18/2,8 and now KP special model design with DFA*85. Those 2 lenses were expected, not thise extras too much. also GR III with new theta Z1. regardless, this year seems like a lot of things are up in the air.

panasonic will have ff . fuji is focused on mediun format where they are doing very well. and a lot of pros on the apsc end too. ... id like a ff there but not critical

Setting up for the event

So of the three big banners shown on the original render, one is Pentax 100, with the new roadmap beneath it, another is Theta, and the one at the front must be GR.

This image is from Kimio Tanaka's Twitter. He is going to be on stage interviewing one of the Ricoh Imaging product planners, Iwasaki-san. He said his agenda will be:

① What are your plans for the future lens?
② What are the plans for the next SLR camera?
③ How about mirrorless camera?
④ What is the future development of GR?
⑤ "Q & A" with everyone at the venue

If they are going to allow that agenda, presumably they are prepared to give some kind of answers. They are going to be accepting audience questions via smartphones using a QR code.

@JPT

May I make the assumption that ① and ② could as well be meant as plural, i.e. what are Ricoh Imaging's plans for the future lenses / DSLR cameras?

No difference between singular and plural in Japanese, so could be either. But logically when you ask a question like this you don't know whether the answer is single or plural anyway.

I know and I should have been more specific. I was wondering whether there is a difference between 今後の新 used in ① and 次の used in ② and whether one could implicitly mean a singularity and the other one a plurality.

Could you remind me who Kimio Tanaka is?
