That's odd: 'RICOH. imagine. change' is written everywhere, one can't see 'Pentax', 'Theta' or 'GR' any more.

If that is the final look of the stand, with no Pentax anywhere, what would that suggest Ricoh really think of the future of the brand?

If there will be a Pentax brand it will be inside where Pentax cameras and equipment will be displayed. I know a lot of us don't like to have RICOH in our camera. However, the truth is they own Pentax. To me I wouldn't care less as long as they keep producing Pentax cameras and lenses.

That's probably because it's only a model. Just imagine that they're not decided yet on where to put the other logos, and that they can change their minds several times before the opening.

I bet this is just a render provided from the booth design vendor.

"OK Mr Ricoh. Here is the design. It's minimalist black, like last year. We've got space for three banners in the exhibition area for your three product lines. What do you think?"

And they use the image to illustrate the announcement, unaware that people will try to read too much into it.

So in other words, I bet those three banners staggered across the display will read Pentax, GR and Theta.

No mention of 11-18 or 70-200... I am afraid that those who don't care about GRIII will be disappointed... again. How can't they survive if they don't release lenses... I would love to give them my money for a 300 F2.8, a 24-70 F4 or a 16-35 F4. Come on Ricoh.

They never mention specific products before the official announcement. This was the same last year, when the information about CP+ 2018 contained no indication of the K-1 Mark II. They couldn’t say anything until it was announced on Feb 22.

Actually, it’s interesting that the image Mistral75 linked of the CP+ 2018 booth was not shown initially. They showed a render of a previous year’s booth with a note that it would not represent the actual booth. This makes me think that leaving the banners blank in the render is quite deliberate, so that they could show the image without revealing anything before they plan to.

I understand your frustration about lenses. I do think the DA* 11-18 is very odds-on for release based on recent interviews. But since I’m referencing myself, you would be forgiven for taking your pinch of salt!

It never ceases to amaze me how some members of this forum hurl themselves headlong off the conclusion cliff without the slightest provocation. At least wait until after whatever announcement is made then dive head first into the shallow end of the pool..........please.

This is about the Japanese market......

20,3 % of compact camera units is shipped to the Japanese market
7,0 % of dslr units is shipped to the Japanese market.
13,9 % of mirrorless units is shipped to the Japanese market.

I think with good marketing they can sell 20.000 units of GRiii in the home market.

(And who knows they also bring a lens for k-mount)

Edit: the named percentages are the percentage of Japanese production in total of wich is send to the home market. So of every 100 produced compact camera, 20 are send to the home market and 80 are send around the world. With dslr this is only 7 and 93 go around the world. This makes the compact camera market in Japan much more important for the manufacturers.

This is a natural reaction, considering how the second half of 2018 - especially Photokina 2018 - worked out, and honestly, that is almost how I feel, but we need to be patient and hope Pentax {apart from Ricoh} has something ready for CP+. Their words indicate a possibility that some of their effort is aimed at the actual Centenary Month {November}, but I do hope they have something to whet appetites earlier.
