I would be very interested to see the 35mm F2. Looks like simply HD coating will be applied and hopefully a new body design so it doesn't look like the nineties anymore. Nu motor I think since there is nothing in the lens name about it. The lens itself is still very good, so it looks like a quick fix by Ricoh to extend the primes line up with more modern glass (albeit just coatings since they didn't add a D before FA).

No I think it as a new version Of The SMC-Pentax FA 35mm F2 AL.

I don't think the HD version of the old FA is what appears as a "wide aperture wide-angle single focus lens" on the lens roadmap (that is also a * lens, judging by the coloring).
We'll have the confirmation when the roadmap will be updated.

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't put a DC motor. Not enough to throw a tantrum, though.

What is more interesting, IMO, is that this is a January announcement (and includes the DA*). There are 11 months left for further announcements this year.

Why, the important thing is that the optical and mechanical quality is excellent. I want to take photos, I'm not walking on a cat walk

You might not care how it looks but many do.

It might also be a lens like the SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL replacing both FA 35 and DA 35

2/35 would be appreciated, still waiting for 1.4/85.

f/2 is sufficient here for me and less questions asked about Sigma Art competition... smaller footprint... thatīs what Pentax was known for in APS-C land, compact high quality primes.
Pentax told us that f/1.4 would be the future for 50/85. f/2 primes and f/4 zooms (70-200) could be seen as a change of perspective towards affordable and easier to design glass. Well, only the 50mm lens exists so far, so letīs wait a couple days and see what happens.
I would buy a fast 35 and a (very) fast 85.

If a 35mm lens materialises with f/2 or higher, it need to be D-FA* rated, has to have new focus drive and weather sealing and it will compete with 31 ltd. This lens cannot be a simple replacement for FA/DA 35.

Ricoh has talked about a surpise in a recent interview: Nippon Camera Ricoh/Pentax 2019 Interview - PentaxForums.com The 35 is probably it. It is not on the roadmap because it is a revamp and not an entirely new lens.

I just hope its not the same screwdrive lens with simply better coatings added... On the other side classic FA 35/2 is offered bundled with a hood named PH-RBA49.

€1500 if we are lucky it won't be a high volume lens

How do you know it will be a screw drive lens? I mean it is not even announced yet.

This thread has survived an entire hour without negativity...

It is not negativity - it's concern. I will just point out that we already have revamped 35 mm glass and it is HD Pentax-D FA 645 35/3.5 AL [IF] for medium format. And yes - it is screw driven.
