I hope it is not some kind of abomination or at least it will be legal to use 1400$ lens on 600$ camera otherwise I will have to wait for new A-PSC flagship from Pentax or "change the system".
Some people here have the attitude of "I don't know why I'd want it so that means no one else wants it either". I think the 11-18 will be a stunning companion to the K70.

Why are you buying screw drive lenses then?

DA* 16-50, DA* 50-135, DA*11-18, DA*200 all 2.8 and SDM.
DA*55 1.4
DA* 60-250 and DA*300 ƒ4.
DA 18-135, DA 16-85, DA 20-40
DA 18-50, DA 55-300
And I'm leaving out some third party options.

If you want silent, buy it. Quit being cheap and save your family the aggravation. What kind of man tortures his family to save a few bucks.
The two main lenses in my bag are a 18-135 DC and 55-300 PLM.

I purchased 18-135 as soon as I realized how noisy 18-55 is, but delayed PLM lens because K-30 was not compatible with it.

The only screw drive lens I currently use is Sigma 10-20 f/4.5-5.6 .... I was irritated that this, unlike Canon variant, wasn't in-lens motor, and someday I probably will purchase the F/3.5 variant {I purchased KP and PLM lens on Black Friday, and I need time for our budget to recover; I am retired, and our budget is not very robust right now.}

I see no reason why it would not work well with 600$ camera.

It's more of a pass at certain people insinuating that people who own less expensive cameras wouldn't buy a nice lens.

You guys do realize that in this case an 11-18 to go with a 16-50, 50-135, 60-250 and 150-450 it's pretty obvious what the lens is for. As does the warmer groove for astro-phography.

A lot of the things I've realized myself slowly over the years and at the time of my "Ah ah" moments, I was really astonished myself that none of the teaching made it to a forum.
Or as sometimes happens, someone shares a gem and it gets drowned out with theoretical objections.
For some reason people who know stuff won't spend as much time defending their teachings as people who disagree on nothing more than a load of internet crap will spend tearing it down.

Or as one of our Pentax ambassadors said, (and I paraphrase) "I don't come to the Pentax Forum much, I can't take the negativity."

Aren't there nice lenses for $300 or $500 or $750? Just not * designated, 5 kg, hyper-corrected lenses that resolve individual atoms.

I wonder if the HD FA 35 coming out will further depress values of the M 35 f2.8. I hope so as that's become a recent object of my own GAS.

It was only a few years ago the net talk was a Pentax user was someone who'd buy a $1300 body so they could use a $50 lens on it. We can reverse the now. A Pentax user is someone who will buy a $1600 lens to use on a $600 body.

In any case, both observations are ridiculous. Having a camera like a K-70 or K-P, means you will get great use out of that lens should you decide to go that route, people's sense of irony has nothing to do with it.

-yup, I will be dissapointed if that warmer groove is not working with my DFA15-30 while keeping my hot chokolate warm. I will jump up’n down.-(joking)

it is great news this 11-18 all in all even if I’m FF shooter now.

Nothing like this there isn't. For people who see the potential in a well corrected, super sharp, fast wide angle like this why shouldn't they buy it?

I didn't know the 11-18 gained that much weight, it should really stop packing in the donuts.

The 18-135 (405g, $477) and 55-300 PLM (442g, $447) are both nice lenses.

... and KP. Waited long time for this kind of lens. Another comparable (including AW or WR) will not come in the near future and I'll not change brand. So, no question what I'll do.
