There is no such thing as the K-3 III, never has been, never will be.

It's full frame full steam ahead--the K-3iii "flagship" is analogous to Ponce' De' Leon's "Fountain of Youth".

Here's another reality gut check: No new Pentax mirrorless is coming either. Last Fall, SIGMA, Panasonic and Leica agreed to an Leica T/L mount standard for mirrorless cameras and lenses. The new Lumix Full frame mirrorless (Sr/1) is pre-ordering now. It will use Leica, Sigma and Lumix lenses....Pentax can not compete against these companies and the NikCanOny oligarchy. I believe that Pentax/Ricoh will keep the niche that they have and eventually produce another APS-c offering, but the emphasis seems to be on promoting the "RICOH" brand at the moment.

Also, the 100th Anniversary of the Asahi brand (the creators of Pentax) may be overrated as Hoya owns the license to Pentax regardless and merged Asahi into their brand--Ricoh has no interest in Asahi and competes on certain levels with Hoya for opticals....I doubt the anniversary will be as ballyhooed as many here believe.

Ho Hum--new coatings and a screw drive lens....CP+ looks like another disappointment for Pentaxians. Don't like the GR iii either.

That's too bad. Few are waiting for a KP II.

K-3 III with that 11-18 would be a fantastic kit.

I think you are correct, something else will be presented at CP+ as well. Showing something a month before an event is not Pentax style - unless we consider the 11-18 to be 11 months late
It is not likely to be another road map lens - maybe mockups of 70-200 or 85. It feels more likely to be a camera.
I will bet the 11-18 was announced now and available for pre-order now due to production scheduling, meaning there is something else to be announced at CP+ that is next in line for pre-production (I'd bet the initial run of 11-18's is complete or nearly complete).

What's the next lens on the roadmap that says SPRING 2019? (Hint: It's an f/4 ZOOM in the 70-200 range, D FA class).

Camera brand anniversaries typically ARE overrated.

Here are the 100th Anniversary products from Nikon (Gunmetal color of current models): Nikon | News | Nikon 100th Anniversary Commemorative Models

75th Anniversary paperweight from Canon: Canon Camera Celebrates 75 Years with Limited Edition Hansa Canon Miniature – shimworld

30th Anniversary of EOS system only got a sale: EOS 30th Anniversary

HasselBlad did offer a 26,000 dollar new MF camera on their 75th anniversary though: https://www.adorama.com/alc/hasselblad-unveils-stunning-new-medium-format-ca...ary?

My perception may be dated or just incorrect altogether, but seems to me like many Sony lenses for their mirrorless system are lenses made for longer registration distance with an adapter tube grafted on. (...)
Could you please point out one native E-mount lens (not a multi-mount third-party lens originally designed for SLRs and then adapted to E mount) with such feature?

I have the impression that the KP will be a one-off. I might be wrong though.

By the way, I'm not saying that there won't be any high-end APS-C DSLR with the Pentax logo any more; I'm just saying that, should Ricoh Imaging ever introduce such a camera, they won't name it K-3 III.

I am just happy that it exists as I missed all of the whining about what it is missing upon its release and just love it as a photography tool. I was considering waiting for the K-3 replacement but am glad I didn't.

I think we all know that though, Mistral. When someone says K-3 III they mean the K-3 II successor that will fill the lineup where a K-3 III would have. Essentially we are saying K-3 replacement.

But anyways it looks like you and ooku are hinting on the GR III.. boo!

Time will tell. To my feeling we will see a KPii (or maybe they name it KC) with some upgrades. KC (C for 100) as the anniversary model. With such a model in november the aps-c line is ready for a next model in 2021.

KC would trigger a good laugh in French-speaking countries. KC = cassé = broken.

What are the features of this potential K-3 III that would make it more suitable than say the KP for an ultra wide zoom lens?
