Redcat 250mm f/4.9 - maybe

There is another manual kickstarter lens (price level around $700):

Ultra Versatile Telephoto Lens, Redcat 250mm f/4.9 by James Yang ? Kickstarter

On the images it says Pentax mounts, bot nowhere else. I would assume the just add an adapter ring.

Yes they do. The lens itself (a very simple design, 4 elements in 3 groups) has an M48 thread mount and a long flange back distance, allowing the addition of an M48 to SLR mount end part.

Williams Optics SFAIK has made primarily small specialty refracting telescopes for astronomy, such as instruments to look at the sun. Astronomical refractors generally have much simpler optical systems than photographic telephoto lenses = typically apochromatic doublet or triplet designs that are diffraction-limited for resolution. Williams is no come-lately or slouch for making very high quality instruments of this type.

William Optics has been around for a while. A respected company. I have bought from them before. Thanks for the heads up. The Petzval design results in a flat field.

Under the "comments" tab, someone asked this question and got a response

I am currently working on the Design of Pentax, M4/3 and Sony E mount, all of these mounts will be manufactured before the project funding is complete, so all our backers will be able to get the package on time. Also, the camera mounts can be purchased from our website directly after production, which gives the users the option to use a different camera with the lens.
Conceptually, this is similar to Tamron's AdaptAll system. I'm having trouble getting interested in a 250mm prime lens right now, and a $600 investment saves me only 10% retail price if I decide later I want one. It would certainly stand out, though.

Also keep in mind: 1) manual focus; 2) fixed aperture (f4.9 and be there)

I am quite certain the "Pentax mount" referenced in #9 above is K-mount.

My thinking as well, and I might even suggest the auto-focus, variable aperture (!) DA*200/2.8 for around $500 second-hand and cropping a little.

I worry about ghosting, flare control and CA as much as MTF and distortion. Didn't see much info in the Kickstarter page on how well those problems are addressed.

The reference was to the Ricoh motto "currently working on it" sounds like a Ricoh rep does it not? The standard answers are....

Currently working on it

and

Under heavy development

I can imagine this lens will be Pentax ready before the next Ricoh/Pentax announcement cause these people are producing a product and Ricoh/Pentax is "watching the market"
