APS-C size (Pentax APS-C size). Your crop looks generous in height. KP sensor is 23.5 x15,6 and your crop looks more like 24 (which is fine) x 18 (which is a lot). And you get 4/3 ratio to my eye
Yup - I used 24x18, dooh!! 24 x 16 would have been mathematically correct.

Here is 23.5 x 15.6:

If that's correct, and it would look like it, I might be able to use my 77mm format filters on a step down adapter without vignetting... That would be good for the budget!

I think my post created some confusion. I linked to a post which , linked to flickr images of a brick building. See here

The test shorts in this thread are not of much use.

I don't take many photos of brick walls, but I do take lots of photos of people, backpacks, and doorways; those photos were very attracting to me.

I don't see much wrong with these. Only photographers error, of pointing up for architechture and wide angle, for example. If you look at that, there is several things to look up. Also it would be intersting ot see this on aps-c camera too..

I was thinking the same thing...
It even vignettes less than the 16-50 DA* on the K1...

I am not surprised, the great corner resolution figures really pointed to a huge image circle, well done Pentax.

---------- Post added 02-10-19 at 04:26 PM ----------

Now Pentax bring out a 16-35mm FF that is built like the DA* and I think a lot of landscape photographers will be very happy.

The llpo use provides full resolution images. If you download the image below at full res and look at the short towers with tented roofs at either end of the frame. Compare pilasters at either side of the towers. The photo isn't perfectly square but both sides of the frame look very similar and the resolution drops quite a bit across the towers. So there is, in this photo, a drop in resolution around where the towers stand (edge of frame). Nothing to draw any conclusions from yet but something to look out for.

I can see the corner softness just in that thumbnail image. From the look of these samples this lens will be a bit disappointing, soft corners at f/5.6. I know this is an early impression and can be caused by massive field curvature... but from what I'm looking at, my sigma 8-16mm is sharper than this.

Me too, I hope that it is just a focus point problem. I can't believe that a 1400€ lens have so soft corners. My 12-24 have better corners than that.

It’s hard to tell, but the image could possibly be very slightly front focused.

I think it's just the particular picture.

That's what MTF graphs are for - Caliscouser's posted those from the Pentax site.

You can see both the 11-18 and 12-24 actually have very little field curvature.

And that the 11-18 is a lot better, it's what being twice the size and cost gets you.

That Sigma 8-16 - a lens I often thought of buying - has a drop in sharpness due to field curvature at 7.5mm across the frame at 8mm focal length, BTW, and it shifts to 10mm at 16mm focal length. Sigma admit to that in their published MTF data.

Looks like the mtf curve matches the resolution drop quite well?
