This is indeed an update on the prototype that one designer was persornally working on, it's written right there in the post. The designer will come to CP+ apparently.

My translation below. Note that Yuzu is the PENTAX facebook person and TKO is the designer.

[Update]

Hi all, it's Yuzu. Do you remember that "Pentax KP Special Custom" post which generated so much feedback?
https://bit.ly/2taTwDC
It's one year since, and here's an update from TKO.

---(from TKO)---
February last year, I posted about the customized model KP on PENTAX Facebook and Twitter.

It started as my hand-made project based on my personal wishes about the kind of camera I'd like to own, but I was surprised and moved very much by the amount of positive feedback I got. Since then, I've been driven by the sense that I have to somehow deliver this, and I continued to slowly refine the design and specifications.

Passionate responses from you are pushing the company, I'm now backed by colleagues who share my vision, and we're studying many possibilities. More than anything, I'd like each part to be an expression of my soul and my particular love of things. I wish I can make something attractive yet different from K-30 and WG that I have worked on before.

Looking forward to seeing you at CP+.

Yes and no... One less Pentax shooter, for sure, but he found a brand he's happy with. It wasn't just down to the cameras and lenses, but his relationship with Ricoh. So he did the right thing for him, and it's all good. He drops by here on occasion, and we're always delighted to see him

People here barely noticed when the KP arrived.

Long time Norwegian Pentax dealer Fovi lists KP as discontinued (only APS-C camera they currently list is K-70), so I wouldn’t be surprised if an update is imminent.

Except hungry Pentaxians have grown over developed senses for any new coming Pentax product, such that furtive KP was detected by Pentaxian radar.

The stealth body renders the wildlife photographer invisible to the subjects photographed. I’m all in with this camera.

Why have shiny chrome features showing? This greatly limits the wildlife applications for the stealth features on this camera. Bat photographers will rejoice as it should confuse echolocation (but beware glints from a full moon), but that's about it. I guess underwater dolphin photographers might find it handy, but talk about a niche market.

It comes with a black Sharpie marker, so you have the choice of chrome or black features

It could also be a problem, with bats unknowingly crashing into the camera.

Stick the 35mm macro on it and you can finally get that flying bat macro from 1cm away
