It's a lot of work by moderators to try to reel them in.
Very useful threads to the general public are closed all the time because somebody with an agenda who would be booted off other sites keeps on making a tenuously related anti-Pentax point.
Rule Thirteen for the Facebook Pentaxians group: "#13 Promotion of other brands over Pentax will not be tolerated. We do not care how great your A7rIII is. Its a wonderful camera surely, we get it. This doesn't mean we cannot discuss the merits of other systems, but you switched systems? Great? How about switching to another group then? Thanks. Otherwise feel free to lurk to your heart's content."
Well, the suggestion with the payed members has it's quirks.
But what if it would just be shown beside every avatar on how many ignore lists someone is? Even if everyone puts the ignore list to good use, for a newbie it is not clear, that this user's statement comes as the hundredandfith of a series of statements along the same lines and as long as it provokes and gets some answers it will be considered as successful by the said user. Maybe this helps on a more subtle level...
