Yeah, this trial wouldn't be for your benefit, or even mine, but for the hundreds, maybe thousands of members and potential members who are put off by a DPR or YouTube comments-style negativity that comes because people can brand bash.

It's a lot of work by moderators to try to reel them in.

Very useful threads to the general public are closed all the time because somebody with an agenda who would be booted off other sites keeps on making a tenuously related anti-Pentax point.

Rule Thirteen for the Facebook Pentaxians group: "#13 Promotion of other brands over Pentax will not be tolerated. We do not care how great your A7rIII is. Its a wonderful camera surely, we get it. This doesn't mean we cannot discuss the merits of other systems, but you switched systems? Great? How about switching to another group then? Thanks. Otherwise feel free to lurk to your heart's content."
Well, the suggestion with the payed members has it's quirks.

But what if it would just be shown beside every avatar on how many ignore lists someone is? Even if everyone puts the ignore list to good use, for a newbie it is not clear, that this user's statement comes as the hundredandfith of a series of statements along the same lines and as long as it provokes and gets some answers it will be considered as successful by the said user. Maybe this helps on a more subtle level...

Maybe they should also expose on how many people someone has on his or hers ignore list. So people can see if discussing a topic with someone would be usefully if he is only reading half of each thread.

I never bash Pentax. And you might loose some members you didn't expect.

Making the forum more image related and asking to post recent images taken with Ricoh-Imaging camera's would maybe even be a better idea. Some respected members don't show up with images. I can always buy a K100D.
