One thing I don't quite like - the lack of GPS.
Less useful for a street camera, because of poor reception between buildings I guess.

I wonder if Ricoh didn't purchase Pentax just to sell more GR's.
How would Pentax contribute to selling GRs???
{I can see how they could re-use technology first used on DSLRs}

Does the purchase of the body also get you the slip-on OVF?

Not that I would buy the GRIII but an EVF that you could mount on top would be nifty.

I said it's $300 more than I paid for my new GRII several years ago. If the GRII ever sold for $799 it must've been for about a day and a half when it first came out. If the GRIII drops that much that fast it won't be so bad.

DPReview is being their usual pessimistic (towards Ricoh/Pentax) self. Stabilization, IMO, is the headlining new feature of the GRIII, and is a much bigger deal than Wi-Fi.

What Ricoh needs is for Nikon to helpfully come out with the same camera for a few hundred dollars more, like they did when the original APS-C GR came out. That made the GR look cheap for once.

Otherwise the GR has always been a pricy item. This one is all new and $100 dollars more than its predecessor. In the context of other high end compacts from Canon and Sony, it looks like a fair price to me.
That was really fortunate marketing

Not a glowing piece of journalism, Docrwm!

He admitted he had one hour with it.

I have a GR II and enjoy it, this thing's even better.
Don't doubt that it is in the least. Still not a glowing review, even for only 1 hours time.

Well, glowing reviews are often paid for with trips and gear … he may not have even gotten a free coffee in his little trip in freezing NY.

My Q7 sensor is significantly smaller than my KP sensor - and the GR sensor, too.

I'm wondering if is good for video (1080 60p finally)
I just bought a Panasonic Gx85, nice little camera but too much iso noise; if the GR III video is good enough, will definitively get it.

Why is 24mp the standard mark for APS-C? Wouldn't a lower mp count help with low light? Just curious.

My Q-7 + 01 + 02 + 06 + Hoodman comfortably fit into a messenger bag and provides a full-function camera kit which I use as I would any other kit

With a body cap, my KP can fit into the same bag, but only because the sides are flexible. To get the same capability given by my Q-7 kit, I would need a second bag to hold the 18-135mm lens
