About Android. Doesn't the 0.8s startup time preclude Android being the OS? The Zeiss seems slow, requiring some kind of sleep mode. What about the Theta? Does it start up quickly?

How long does it take for your smartphone to boot up?

For a cold boot, approximately 30 seconds between start and PIN code request (I just checked) but most apps aren't loaded and fully available then.

A comparison with a smartphone is entirely pointless. My android TV box starts up in about a second. Startup time is defined by the number (and speed) of components and devices that also need to start at the same time. A highly stripped down and optimised Android could start in milliseconds.

So, if anyone was grousing that the GRIII doesnt have enough resolution, isnt full frame, has no viewfinder, doesnt do 4K, and has a slow lens, Leica just fixed that with the new Q2...

47Mp, full frame, 28mm f1.7, 4K, EVF... $4,995

GRIII looks pretty good...

And dpreview reports in their review:
There are however aspects of the original Q brought over into the Q2 that I wish Leica would have addressed. For instance, its JPEG profiles are some of the absolute worst I've seen in a modern digital camera. Perhaps this is Leica's way of subtly insisting you take the time to process your own

Maybe they just couldn't be bothered to work on that project. Pentax has shown the job can be done well - I'm guessing, based on inclusion of the 'accelerator' in the K-1ii, that in-camera JPEG is important to someone at Ricoh.

The GR is absolutely aimed at using OOC JPEGs. I almost never use JPEG on the K-3II (to me they look poor) but with the GR I almost never bother with RAWs.

GR3 is nice as a tiny small day to day camera.
I think Ricoh did a good job.

Me either. SRS tells me they'll have it Friday, so I might have it Saturday.

That relies on Ricoh though and they're not overly reliable at releasing stuff on time...

Wouldn't it already be in-transit to distributors if release date is that close?

All I know is that they've told me they expect stock on the 15th. From other recent releases like the K-1, it would be expected that Europe would get stock first.

However, I'll believe it when I see it in my hands.
