Ricoh Theta Z1

According to Nokishita Camera, Ricoh Theta Z1 could be announced next Monday, on the 25th of February. This could be the camera behind R02020.

Personal message: my congratulations to Ooku who hinted at a new Theta several times these last days. A suggestion though: if you are not fluent in English, rather than writing cryptic one-word or two-words messages I suggest your posting in your mother tongue (Chinese I presume), other members here will be delighted to translate.

Nokishita’s picture from the bottom shows that this is R02020.

It looks physically bigger than any of the previous ones.

Lots of Ricoh lately, but those two K-mount lenses went on sale today as well.

What on earth could “In Japan, indoor use only” mean?

Really good info for me. If the IQ is better than in V they will sell at least one Theta Z1

Radio frequencies authorisation are different by country . Good example some frequencies can not be use for wifi in USA versus Canada. That why a wifi router could be a different model in the 2 country.

Will be insteresting to see the specs. Certainly >5K video - maybe even 6K? Could have wished for a replaceable battery, though.

Theta could use a better iq and video with more pixels. So good development.

Could be very interesting if the resolution is much bigger.

I like my theta, but for my purpose, photos from within buildings, halls and churches, the resolution is to low. But this is not a fault of the camera

Maybe that 5.2 GHz wlan is not allowed outdoors in Japan.

I can't possibly know more than someone who is residing in Japan, but perhaps there are standards in Japan for how a wireless product can be marketed and the range of 5Ghz Wi-fi transmitters compared to 2.4Ghz Wi-fi transmitters with the same power is only about a third. Plus the higher frequency carrier signals of 5Ghz transmitters are much more easily stopped by walls, especially ones made with bricks. In other words, if your dual band Wi-fi router doesn't have a much higher power rating than typical household varieties (which could put it into license required territory), it won't connect to your Theta when you step outside.

Maybe this is a legal thing, that it isn't allowed to take pictures of surroundings and people without permission.
