This pretty much implies silent AF these days.
'Silent' AF has been expected by some of us for many years. In 1995 I switched from Pentax to Canon because only the EF was 'quiet", and I stayed with Canon until about four years ago.

A good set of extension tubes with af and aperture contact pass throughs would be cheaper for Pentax to develop and probably sell more of, and allow use of the existing DA* 200 and 300 primes to go to 1:1 and beyond.
You'd need very long extension tubes to reach 1:1 with a conventional 200mm and more so with a 300mm.

It would be interesting to see the calculations of how much extension is needed to achieve 1:1 at specific working distances.

Equal to the focal length (if the lens itself is at infinity).

They can't be done simply because they would require to know the focal length at the minimum focus distance (MFD) and the distance between the principal planes/points H and H'.

With the lens focused on infinity, the extension required to achieve 1:1 is equal to the focal length (20cm and 30cm in our case).

Assuming that the lenses keep their focal length at MFD, the extension required to achieve 1:1 with the lens focused on MFD is equal to 16cm for the 200mm f/2.8 (MFD = 1.2m) and 21.8cm for the 300mm f/4 (MFD = 1.4m).

160mm (over 6 inches) of extension tube(s) = probably not the most stable of a macro setup, back to the drawing board

Make it thick with a tripod foot and you’re good

But yeah, that’s a lot of extension...

Supporting both a K-1 size body and a heavy lens on that amount of extension ventures in to the world of the technical monorail camera setup. Not exactly a big selling item.

Pentax is more tight lipped than the NSA is about spying on American citizens.

Ricoh doesn’t even give a nod or a wink when asked about rumored release dates of new products, they love to keep info very closely held. I think we’re all accustomed to that by now

Last weekend, I asked a Ricoh/Pentax Factory Representative. He joking said, we're last to know. He said, the consumers are better informed than they are about product releases from the company products they represent.
