I'm pretty sure they will dance But what about 16-28/2.8 Opera Shall we see new high performance DFA* zoom then? Thats the question.

Tokina opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF is based on a Tokina-developed optical formula and is a mere revamping of the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX announced in 2010.

Therefore I'm not looking forward to see its Pentax-branded version and I'm sure, should such lens be launched, that it won't be a D FA★.

Would u prefer the Opera 16-28 because it is 1mm tighter at the wide end and 2mm tighter at the long end compared to the DFA15-30? Please keep in mind that the DFA15-30 is one of the best wide angle zoom for full frame DSLRs.

After some time with DFA*50 and DFA*70-200 I'm looking for solution that is DFA* non DFA

Given that the Tokina 16-28 is generally recognized as inferior to the Tamron 15-30, how would a Pentax branded 16-28 possibly qualify as a star lens on par with the DFA* 50 and the DFA* 70-200? Besides that, you're never going to see a star lens that isn't designed and manufactured by Pentax.

Indeed, if you begin today the kid should be born before the lens hits the shelves.

Not that critical: we are now with the HD Pentax-D FA★ 85mm f/1.4 where we were exactly two years ago, at the end of February 2017, with the HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW: with the notice of exhibition of a reference product, a picture and a mock-up about to be showcased at CP+.

The HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW hit the shelves 17 months afterwards, at the end of July 2018. Hadn't it being delayed a bit by a manufacturing issue (remember the PR of April 2018), it wouldn't still have been available before spring 2018, some 14 months after the CP+ mock-up.

I'm waiting for an updated roadmap, then we'll know.
If the January roadmap isn't the current one - then, the D FA 70-200 is still spring 2019, and the D FA* 85 f/1.4 is still 2019.

Taking in mind, cost of pregnancy (doctor, medicines, hospital and everything in beetween conception to delivery) is probably more cheaper just to save some money

I would like the Tokina Opera 16-28mm to come out because it the canikon version is $699 so a Pentax version would be a sub 1k ultrawide FF zoom which Pentax sorely lacks.

At CP+ we can see if there is glass inside the show model or that it is just a mock-up.

Hah. This lens might weigh as much as a new baby, too.
