To be considered a competitive option in the full frame market Pentax will have to develop a fast 85mm lens. We already have a fast 50mm and fast f/2.8 15~30mm and 70~200mm* zoom lenses and consumer/budget oriented 28~100mm range zoom lens. A fast 85mm lens only makes sense, so does a fast 24~28mm lens. Though I wouldn't complain at all if Pentax chose to expand upon the FA limited lens line. With a high quality, solid all metal bodied sub 31mm lens, or another lens over 77mm**, an unusual product alongside a rather standard lens line up offering would be a great contrast and a way to create renewed interest within in the industry in a classically Pentax way. I remember how the original announcement of the FA limited lenses created quite a bit of talk and discussion, the lenses definitely caused a stir among lens makers. To this day my colleagues see me working with the FA limited lenses in the studio and they remain impressed with not only their functional and aesthetic qualities, but also their optical performance on the K-1 as well.
* with a 70-200mm f/4 making an appearance on the lens roadmap.
** Some consider the D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR to be made in the spirit of the FA limited lenses, I consider the lack of an aperture ring to discredit this notion.
