Has anyone on-site asked about the 70-200 f4?

I want to see 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89. ;-) The new Pentax Fibonacci series. Think of the geek market for that.

Collect the whole set!

Hey, I already have two of them! My current kit has a gap right around 233mm.

@Asahiman has referred to a "very very internal roadmap""

There is a very, very internal roadmap.... Cameras and lenses...
A nice fullframe line up is in sight, no sign for going out of business.
Next year is the big anniversary, don't forget this point.
I know, the most forum users here, will be surprised.
Best regards and Kanpai

I respect his enthusiasm, but I'll take this with a big grain of salt.

I presume most forum users here were surprised by the KP Custom, its variety of hardwood handgrips designed in partnership with Miroky Techno Wood Co. Ltd, the same manufacturer that produces the wood steering wheels for Lexus, its custom lens mount flange designed in partnership with the Japanese watchmaker Citizen and made out of their Duratect DLC material, a titanium-based material coated in diamond-like carbon, and its customizable colour top covers that fit over the pop-up flash and block it.

I was. I couldn't have imagined that Pentax would follow the same route as Hasselblad with their infamous Lunar, Stellar, HV and Lusso.

I suspect many users here aren’t familiar with Commemorative bodies such as the LX2000 and LX Titanium. While this KP isn’t quite such an elaborate Commemorative, I certainly understand the idea of limited edition bodies. Should they make $200 per body at the factory level and sell 10,000 additional bodies versus standard volume that’s $2,000,000 - certainly motivation for offering them.

Apparently his enthusiasm is a result of his having seen the "very internal roadmap".
I don't know of his having any knowledge of how work is actually progressing.
What I hadn't been willing to express before the news that the "K-3ii replacement" will be next year is that most likely there are at least two "FF" bodies ahead of the "K-3ii replacement"; how enthusiastic that makes someone will depend on her/his inclinations.

Geeeze Louise, RE, where did you come up with that prediction? You must be a professional Ouija board operator

It is my personal interpretation of the words by @Asahiman "Currently nearly all the development power is going into K fullframe SLR Body and lens development, very interesting and in 2 classes" plus the knowledge we now have that the 'K-3ii replacement' is apparently scheduled for next year plus his enthusiasm. I don't believe the so-called 'KP Custom' would cause much enthusiasm in any sane person, and everyone seems to be discouraged by the APS schedule {even Kimio Tanaka}. I have been completely bollixed by the recent lack of new products camera bodies by Pentax; giving more priority to "FF" than to APS could explain what we are seeing, why getting that thing out the door seems to be so slow.

added: I find two years between Pentax products camera bodies to be totally inexplicable.

Lack of new products? They presented 5 new cameras - two of them pushing the edge of the technology envelope, a new DA* lens that so far is a jaw dropper according to those who have received it - and a reworked HD overlay on a proven FA lens. How do you rate that ‘lack of new products’?

In the next two years there will be at least one FF, one 645 and one APSC - all with major tech advances. They schedule things one-at-a-time due to their production limitations.
