Ricoh WG-6 / G900 / Theta Z1 get delayed

According to a press release published today on Ricoh Imaging's Japanese website:

コンパクトデジタルカメラ「RICOH WG-6」「RICOH G900」「RICOH G900 安心保証モデル」「RICOH G900SE」、360°カメラ「RICOH THETA Z1」発売日変更についてのお知らせ|RICOH IMAGING (which means: 'Information on the release date of the compact digital cameras (...) and 360° camera (...))

Ricoh Theta Z1 and WG-6, previously scheduled for release in late March, as well as Ricoh G900/G900SE, scheduled for release in late May, are delayed.

The official reason for the delay is: 'Because it takes more time for final adjustment to achieve the planned performance' (予定している性能を実現するにあたり、最終調整にさらなる時間を要するため)

No new release date has been decided yet. The cameras are said to be 'coming soon' (近日発売)

Addendum (11 April):

There is a new press release published today the 11th of April on Ricoh Imaging's Japanese website:

コンパクトデジタルカメラ「RICOH WG-6」、360°カメラ「RICOH THETA Z1」発売日決定のお知らせ|RICOH IMAGING (which means 'Compact Digital Camera "Ricoh WG-6", 360° Camera "Ricoh Theta Z1" - Notice of Release Date Determination | Ricoh Imaging')

Ricoh WG-6 will be released on Friday 19 April whilst Ricoh Theta Z1 is scheduled to be released on Friday 24 May, respectively one month and two months later than originally anticipated.

The release date of Ricoh G900 and G900SE is still to be decided.

Addendum (24 May):

According to the RIcoh Imaging France newsletter I just received, the Ricoh G900 should be available in early July.

Not enough pre-orders from shops maybe?

Warning: apocalyptic thread ahead.

I recommend good reads such as:
-> The power of Positive Thinking, Vincent Norman Peale
-> Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill
-> Psychotherapy and self-improvement based on optimistic autosuggestion ["Day by day, in every way, I'm getting better and better."], Emile Coué

Not needed.

They should send wg-6 and G900 back to the drawing table and put a good lens on it and a bigger sensor inside.

Theta Z-1 will always be a commercial gamble at that price. It just takes balls to put it in shops.

I presume the 'planned performance' is about technical performance, not commercial performance.

This should be translated as 'there was a desperate scramble to get the GR out on the shelves and we forgot about these other ones'

[humour]Alternatively: 'because of our difficult financial position we couldn't pay our Chinese contractors on due date and they blocked deliveries.'[/humour]

No because the payment of contractors is never before the delivery.

Well the bigger shop overhere that revealed the price for the GRIII took the WG-6 and G900 out of the pre-order books.

Well there is plenty of stock for wg-60 and wg-50, so there is absolutely no sense for shops to put their money into inventory of just another the same snorkelcamera like wg-6.

The first shipment of GRIII fullfilled all pre-orders and stocked all shops overhere.

Did you miss the pseudo HTML tags?

Anyway, when payments to suppliers are too long overdue, subsequent deliveries can be blocked. I presume Ricoh Imaging kept the same suppliers for WG-6, G900 and Theta Z1 as for the former WG, G and Theta cameras.

Maybe this is why they are so coy about Pentax release dates. Release date for a new product is always a guess - so many issues can arise while ramping up production, so they'll know when they'll be ready to ship only when they are ready to ship. The snarky comments in this thread are totally inappropriate.

I don't agree to this. CP+ is just 3 weeks ago. There is something more serious to this then just an unexpected delay in production. We will learn more in the future.

Remember the Nikon DL line that never came...... There is no sense in putting a product in production when you know you won't break even on sales.

Our opinions don't control what Ricoh is doing.
We shall see what happens.

The odd thing is that they postpone all three cameras together -the G900, for instance, was due in late May only.

Time will tell.

Aren't the G900 and WG-60 closely related? Something technical - such as automating some assembly - could easily affect both of them.
