Also works here with older entry-level bodies and DA 40 XS...

Even works when you handle a camera that was ordered for someone else. Still remember how excited I got when I set up the K-70 that we picked up for my wife in the summer sale this year. And that was with my old kit lens on.

That’s a very encouraging sign from Ricoh, I love the site too.

Is Pentax actually going to start doing some advertising? New website? What about Twitter and Facebook? That would be more important to me.

There is just something different about the Limited lenses - a bit like the Pentax brand. And for that matter the Ricoh GR. I wonder how many of us have bought in and stuck with Pentax/Ricoh because of these differences. When I first got back into Photography I considered modern gear, feature rich cameras, clinical lenses. I was bombarded with advertising from the mainstream manufactures. Somewhere in this adventure, however, I came across an article, I wish I could remember where, that mentioned the Limiteds and Pentax and it registered with me. The other gear seemed to be lacking in soul. I fancied something different. Quirky even. Good on Ricoh for producing this website to highlight the uniqueness of these lenses. I hope it brings more folk into our camp. Not too many. I'd hate Pentax too become too popular ;-)

I've been with Pentax twice, I left my original K-5 because it was just a bit too small and the viewfinder didn't work well enough for my eyes. Came back shortly afterwards due to the ergonomics and Limited lenses. If I find myself having to get rid of camera gear, my K-1 and FA Limiteds will be the items I keep.

That Limited Lens Special Site has a nice production value. Well done Ricoh Pentax.

What are the odds of Ricoh developing a new DA Limited lens? Currently, there's a gap in the modern lens line-up for a [more affordable than the 31mm] 28mm lens. Pentax already has a history of nice and compact 28mm lenses, with fairly slow apertures (the f/3.5s being favored.) That seems to me like a perfect opportunity to take and old formula, update and optimise it for APS-C, but still project a large enough image to be usable on FF (like the 40mm ltd/xs, 35mm f/2.5, and 50mm f/1.8). 28mm would be great on APS-C as a 43mm equivalent, and still also be a classic FoV on the K1, even if it has softer and darker corners.

Hell, considering how small my Vivitar 28mm f/2 is, they wouldn't even necessarily have to update and old Pentax formula, instead using a different formula that allows for a max aperture of f/2, thus being the fastest DA Limited while still being compact. Pentax APS-C could use at least one fast, small, normal prime with great build quality.

Pentax isn't Meyer Optik Görlitz or Lomography. Such lens, 'based on an old Pentax formula', would be disparaged by websites and reviewers because it would be soft everywhere but in the centre. Thanks but no thanks.

The 28mm "gap" is filled by the HD 20-40.

Pentax is a small company with limited resources; they cannot afford to be too granular with their new lens offerings, they already have their hands full supporting 3 lines.
