Seriously, what a joy to watch. I have the 15, 21, 31, 20-40, 70 and 77, they always feel fantastic to hold and use. And how good it is to see the old fashioned way they're made, not just stamped and glued!

I don't expect non-Pentaxians to appreciate any of this, of course.

They should run ANYTHING as an ad. Cool site. I do hope they have more glass to add to the content soon.

A far better lens would be a 200/5.6. You should (if you have not already) seen how small the 200/5.6 Takumar is. Also the images it produces are outstanding.
I see what you mean: Takumar/Tele-Takumar 200mm F5.6 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

And only 49 mm filter thread ...

Good to see the wonderful Limited lenses getting some love from Ricoh.

I've seen a lot of promotion recently for the GR III and can't help but think that Pentax should do that for other gear such as new Pentax cameras and lenses.

What a great video. The way that they painted the numbers on the focusing ring especially intrigued me but it was fascinating to see the whole process. The Limiteds really are a Pentax signature product.

That video is inspiring. I have all the Limited primes. My original (very early) copy of the 20-40 was unacceptably weak at the wide end, so I returned it for a refund.

That decision may have to be remedied.

I’m convinced. Since no one seems to want to buy my mint sliver copy I just withdrew it from the Marketplace.

Definitely makes me want to get a new in box limited lens. Both of mine were purchased used. Is there a new limited smell?

I have been trying to resist LBA for awhile here. With over 50 lenses, I was trying to convince myself I didn't need another. This thread has not helped my resolve one bit. I never saw your copy, since I never looked. Its like eating that bag of chips. Bet you can't eat just one!

except with chips, the secret addiction which makes you crave more is salt

with the limiteds, the secret addiction which makes you crave more is performance and quality

The Tak 200/5.6 is a little jewel and opened my eyes to how wonderful some of the old lenses are.

Love my FA77mm Ltd and would love a high quality modest WA to compliment it... something like a FA25MM F2.0 Ltd Macro would float my boat. Wouldn't need to be 1 to 1, half life would be more than fine, just ability to close focus and not start noticeable diffraction until f16 or thereabouts.

I'd prolly sell my Irix 15mm and my Tokina 20-35mm, taking a couple of pounds out of my bag. Like others, I don't find a lot of use for 15mm on FF as I thought I would for my style of shooting... Though I prolly wouldn't let go of my manual Soligor 20mm f2.8... it's tiny like a Limited and the bokeh is just too fun. Heck, an updated Limited AF version of the Soligor would be cool for that matter.

I, too , liked the video, but....

I have another takeaway: it seemed to me that there was too much hand work involved, some of it to not much good purpose and/or that could be automated. I thought I was watching a Leica video. I can already hear the roar from my fellow Pentaxians, but I hope Pentax is able to do more modernization here in the manufacturing process. I wonder if Sigma---which has led the industry of late in updated QC methods, with more rigorous testing, has the same amount of handwork involved?

I will say that it makes the prices of these lenses more amazing.

No wonder, since this was a video about Pentax Limiteds.

It's quite possible they employ more automation for other lenses (do such lenses have to be designed with automation in mind?). OTOH automation is required for higher volumes, and Pentax just isn't a volume brand...
