Some one had already mentioned the oval dial quirk over on PR and they got a tonne of flack for it.

The oval dial is legit. It lets you use 1/3 stop increments at the wide open end, half-stops in the middle, then 1/3 again near where diffraction is an issue...

CaNikonysonic canít touch that level of ergonomic genius...

But yeah, wakes us up a bit

Welcome Chris!

I'm pretty sure everyone knew it was an April Fool's joke

For as silly as those “retro” digital bodies may seem and look, releasing something like that would truly be revolutionary for Ricoh. I think those bodies would actually sell really well and expand the user base.

It would take a revolution in controls to really pull it off, but it would be awesome to have a dslr as clean looking as a Spotmatic.

There must be reasons - technical reasons - why those concepts were nothing more than scams.

The guy who is making them is posting in the film forum...

He's apparently working on a new one... go to the last page...
I'm Back - digital back for ME and ME Super - PentaxForums.com

It's an interesting technical solution but not on my holiday gift list...

It would certainly be a technical challenge to squeeze a FF system into a film sized body or something close to it. I think the system would have to be mirrorless without any in-body AF motor. Removing the mirrorbox and the AF motor would free up a lot of space. The LCD screen on the back is the next big space eater. I'm not sure what levers the designers can pull to make it thinner but maintain robustness.

The Sony A7 sets a baseline. Ricoh/Pentax seem have a long history of excellent mechanical packaging. The MX and Q bodies highlight this. Personally, I think Ricoh/Pentax could beat the A7 series if they decided to try.

Oh goodness, I saw this bumped to the top and thought for a second that maybe it wasn't an April Fool's joke.

It isn't an April Fool joke anymore. It has become a raffle entry gatherer.

Indeed: a stale April Fool joke together with a raffle entry gatherer.

From camerasize.com ...

Compare camera dimensions side by side
I was talking about the "digital back for film cameras" depicted in that image. In other words, the Silicon Film fraud which was around since the early DSLRs.
The idea surfaced from time to time, investors paid their money and then... silence.

So it's not squeezing a digital camera into a film sized body; but squeezing a digital camera into an actual film body. Well, the sensor at least - with a "battery grip" containing the electronics and power supply.
