pentax get the 60mp IMX 455 sample
it's going to be tough for lenses , users are going to zomm at 100% and complain it's not sharp, then post 2Mp samples online as the main use of the image files.

But I wonder that problem it would solve, except I couldn't compose an image without switching on the camera with an EVF (I can check a view and even focus manually without even switch on my K1), and I would also need a spare battery.

I can take a picture with my K1, download it with WiFi+ImageSync and pretend I took the image with the phone.
Probably the most important thing for Pentax to do is to release an app that will edit your exif on import that changes the camera used to shoot a particular image. Based on the Forum, I'm thinking the A9 setting may be a popular one, but if you wanted to change it to your phone, that would be one as well. It would be like owning a whole raft of cameras while only owning one!

up is a semiconductor industry person and provides reliable information about Sony Semiconductor.
At 60mp we may start to see optical limits kick in even sooner. I think it would still be acceptable though.

From 36 to 60Mp the linear increase of resolution isn't that much, something like 25%. The trouble is, people continue to zoom it @ 100%, whereas the benefit of more MP should be appreciated when looking at the whole image printed.

I'm fine with 24 MP. Not up to me though.

I've known pros who were fine with 12MP.
I love my K-1, but it's serious overkill, a 24 MP FF with more dynamic range and better high ISO performance would be preferable.

We can't all be minimalists, otherwise it would redefine the meaning of minimalist, witht today's minimalists being considered maximalists.

EXIF tool can do that pretty easily, just write a little script for each model you want to own and drag and drop the image on to the EXIF tool script Icon. Voila you just bought a new camera!

if your lenses are ok at 100% on a k-3, then they'll be ok on a 60mp full frame. fuji uses even smaller pixel pitch for their 26mp xt-3.

All MTF charts show drop of optical resolution as the distance increase from the center of the frame. In order to maintain good sharpness at 60Mp accross the FF sensor area the lens is designed larger. A lens designed for crop MF format would work reasonable well on 35mm @ 60Mp. I was using a Tamron SP 28-75 2.8 which worked fine on a K3, when I used it on the K1 I discovered that two of the edges/corners were fuzzy with plenty of chromatic aberrations.

All a K-1 MKIII needs over the MKII to make it a worthwhile upgrade is UHS-II.

Doesn't that require a new processor also?
My understanding is that bus interface is integrated into the processor, and I'm not sure current processor can make UHS-11 a worthwhile update

The ultimate minimalist camera would be the new K-1Pixel camera. It would have a giant 24x36 FF RGB photodiode capable of 26-bits dynamic range.

The output would be one giant butter-smooth rectangle of near-infinitely-rich tonality -- imagine capturing a sunset as one huge wash of delicious color!

UHS-II is already old. Camera makers should anticipate that some people are going be obsessed with mandatory use of UHS-III.

Someone should design a new image sensor with pixel pitch decreasing towards the center of the frame in order to match max lens resolving power in the center. Such sensor would please birders who like to crop without wasting too many pixels.
