it's never the size that counts, it's how your use it.

well, it is being aimed at the asians.. no wonder it's small...

OK, i'll stop, please don't hurt me (and yes, i'm an Asian living in Godzone, so i get the asian size jokes too... doesn't help that i'm a 154cm shortie...)

Honestly, i wouldn't mind getting this. it's a direct replacement for the *ist DS. small, light and cheap. and has ISO3200 as well. Might even get the kit

No one missed the point. What you missed is the talk sometime ago about the Japan Pentax site showing the K-m being marketed some towards women.
Proof I guess...

Haha I know what you mean, gary! I was set on the 15 too, but I think I'm getting the k-m first! It was such a joy to use, I found it pretty much the same or even better than my old Nikon D40 which says a LOT, I loved that camera.

Anyway, looking forward to getting one!

Hi, is it already available in the Philippines? I'm not in the market for it, but I sure would love to try it out.

I went to our local rep this morning and had a chance to handle the K-m, sans batteries. It feels pretty rugged for a baby-cam.

Downsides I've spotted:

Obviously no external display (you'd be surprised how much I use it)

No cable release connector (!!!)
+
No DC in
=
No really long exposures possible.

I didn't have a problem using the D40 with its lack of the top LCD, the rear LCD acts as the top LCD but much easier on the eyes. It was a bit awkward at first but after a while, I liked it

True though, no cable release and DC in. I think it can use the wireless remote though! I plan to use it as a walkaround/carry-everywhere camera, for more "serious" shoots, my K20D will be used

I've used both D40(x)/D60, Canon EOS 400D/450D, Panasonic DMC-L10, Sony Alpha A100; and on all of these, I really missed the external display in bright lighting conditions, or in situations with not enough ambiental light. A biiig LCD display would kill my adjusted eyes in the dark.
