Note that registration for Photoplus Expo 2019, in NYC in October, opened today. Also, as of today, Ricoh/Pentax is NOT listed as an exhibitor on the Photoplus website.

The show isn't worth exerting effort if you have to travel. My daily commute puts me 10 minutes away so I'll probably walk the show floor, in and out in 90 minutes.

Are Fuji, Leica, Hasselblad, Tokina, Sony, Samyang, and DJI doomed?

I think trade shows are doomed as places of public interest.

Yes they are all doomed, your Samyang lens will disintegrate with the Pentax gear.

I wasn't aware about Photoplus Expo 2019. What's that? Will Adam organize a bus charter for all of us to attend? Are there free drinks and food?

This'll be great. We'll all stay in Beholder's suite, get loaded afterwards, you'll wake up without your eyebrows, Kerrowdown will be passed out on the couch in his underwear, and there'll somehow be a tiger in the bathroom.

I am not surprised about Leica, Hassy, Samyang and DJI not being there. Fuji and Sony's absence is a curiosity. I think this show has become a more consumer (read amateur) oriented show and less pro oriented. I used to go to the show in New York when I lived in Boston. It had a more serious photographer feel to it back in the days (late 90's early 2000's).

Even Atlanta, GA used to have a show, with wide-spanning industry support and manufacturers reps, demos, and the like.

But that was 25+ years ago, when a SF1n was $850...

The show disappeared in the mid-90s, after a couple of years trying to be a small local thing. I think it was completely gone by the 1996 Olympics...
