At least was it so with K-70.
But I don't think that's the case with KP's sensor.

well said. i'm not in a hurry to replace my more than capable k3.. and when i replace it i want a true enhancement on different levels.
and i think it is taking that long simply because they don't intend to release another plain update.

Including the KP updates alone would would be much more than a 'plain update'; based on the time they are taking they must be putting much more into the K-3ii replacement.

It is your wallet - you can get what they provide or resist.

agreed

i will resist, but if i had to choose, i would not know which one of the KP j's i'd take.
something to be said for both imo.

Clearly, the KP J Limited Edition is a mistake

"With regard to the digital single-lens reflex camera “PENTAX KP J limited,” which is scheduled to be released as a custom-made production system on July 31, 2019, reservations for black & gold and dark night navy both far exceed the initial expectations. "

Who said you can't sell camera without making new models? (unlike cheese and beer).

I don't know what you mean by 'mistake'; "exceed the initial expectations" is what you want in any product.

No one, as far as I remember. Definitely not me. And since you were asking for it insistently, welcome to my ignore list.

Sarcasm
Particularly targeted at those around the 'net who protest at everything Pentax/Ricoh does.

Am I the only one who saw the sarcasm here?

The basic issue here is people who were determined that Pentax was to introduce a new model at the beginning of 2019, so the 'KP J custom' was the only candidate to squeeze into the "new model" definition. If Pentax goes the entire year without introducing a new model, I will be disappointed, but they still have half the year to come up with something, to have something close enough to release that they can at least talk about it.
