Around 1100€ would be fine for me. This is what I paid for my K3-II, and more or less the same for my K5. Of course I'll need to sell some used equipment.
I hope so too, but wouldnt be surprised if its closer to the the price on K-1, if there is new technology added.

Photography gear seems to be getting more expensive and the formats closer in pricing. So there's a risk that it'll be more expensive than previous models.

Indeed...

In Europe the mid-range KP was as expensive at launch as the high-end K-3: €1,299 for both.

I can't recall how much was the launch price of the K-3II but, I think I got mine cheaper than a $1000. That's about $125 cheaper than its price when it was sold here in the Philippines. I got it from someone selling from Japan. Maybe Japan prices are cheaper at launch date. I don't think there was a huge difference in prices when I bought it as I got it about 60 days after launch date.

The launch price of the K-3 II was much lower than that of the K-3: €999 / $1,099 instead of €1,299 / $1,299.

I got mine for Php41,000 at that time. If my dollar rate is right, that would be around $855. That would be about $244 cheaper.

I have a K1, K1 Mark II and a Kp. I sure hope they put something out that makes me want to buy it since all I now own is Pentax cameras and a bunch of Pentax lenses. If Pentax goes under I could never replace what I have in another brand without spending a ton of money which I can't at this time. Pentax, please step up with something

I expect that launch price of the "K-3-ii replacement" will be higher than the launch price of the K-3 and the K-3ii .... we will see what happens after that,

What makes you think Pentax is going under? Are you not keeping up with the information regarding the recently previewed New Pentax APSC flagship camera?

I think it is three years ago (or is it already 4 years) that I said that with the K-1 there is almost no market left for hi end aps-c users to bring a new model to market. Those with money changed ship and use the fullframe model. Those who didn't, either had not enough funds, or are not with enough people for such a model. Im still good on track to be right.

What is coming......next year......is a new model that has nothing to do with K-3ii.....but will replace KP.
Well you guessed wrong on that one Ron.

I hadn’t visited this thread since early September. It was amusing reading the posts and speculation about the K-new (which had not been revealed yet) with knowledge of what has come since.

Start about page 85 and read from there to here. It’s a hoot.

You better hope the USD stays strong relative to JPY. If the USD drops (as I suspect it will) the retail price of K-new will rise after release like the K-1 briefly did. In a currency-neutral market I would expect Ricoh to closely match supply and demand to keep the price constant for much longer than historically. They won’t need to clear stock for the next upgrade body so they needn’t cut the price after six months. Waiting to avoid the “early adopter premium” might not work any more - you might just be waiting.

And there may be some good bundle offers with the initial release. Those may not be matched for a year or two, and with Ricoh being in no hurry to push out new models the price may also hold..

Pentax has been doomed for over 10 years now and it's still here.
Stop saying that Pentax is going under, someone might end up closing this thread. We haven't finished speculating. Speculating as a Pentax Jedi is fun.
