If Ricoh registers a radio, it must mean a new camera...or maybe a new flash...or a new remote dongle system...

Some smoke on the surface, they are cooking something down there in the labs.

And where there's smoke, there's fire! They definitely are doing something, but just *what* is that... does the Theta Z1 have real-time streaming of high-resolution video already?

I think so. Do you think the 4K vid. stream of the Z1 could be transmitted via radio?

It once came to my mind that Ricoh should get rid of IR sensors on Pentax cameras, and replace the IR sensors by a single bi-directional radio terminal that would work for triggering off cameras flashes, and remote trigger the camera with a dongle, or a phone, or notebook.

Yep...such has been suggested here for several years. Perhaps we will get our wish?

The use of the 5GHz band sounds like high-speed WiFi, maybe? Perhaps for studio tethering of the camera with a built-in Flucard? It's definitely for improved connectivity, but it's too nebulous to say anything I guess.

Maybe or maybe not. It just might be they are buying new components for this thing and price difference between WIFI 2.4 only and 2.4+5 GHz is so small they decided to buy new ones. It might be even, that new tech is cheaper, than old.

So this could be K-1iii with upgraded wifi connection.

Theta V and Theta Z1 use the 5GHz band too.

By the way, R02070 was registered by Ricoh (リコー), not Ricoh Imaging (リコーイメージング), therefore it's most probably a Theta device.

Considering R02010 was Ricoh GR III and R02020 was Ricoh Theta Z1 and taking into account this R02070, where and what are R02030, R02040, R02050 and R02060?
