Richo's action is quite strange compare with recent years,
1, no any official information about new flagship or other product, compare with recent years there will be something goes out before release.

2, half of this year has past, still nothing but only rumor, for 100 anniversary's meaning, as Japanese I know this is far more important than you can image, however Richo takes a few reaction on it though the executive chef of Richo talk about recapture the market and customers, they do very negatively.

3 After other brand announce so many new goods, Richo still take no reaction but release something that have little significance, continue loosing
degree of attention from market

if you are living in Japan you will understand this, that's all (о´∀`о)

No information about the new APS-C flagship, you say? And that's weird?
You must've been watching another brand, that "Richo" or whatever

Actually no official confirmation at all, except they say KP is not a replace for K3

(Not my image)
I've seen some swimsuit pictures during the course of my legal representation of a guy charged with possession of child porn that were, shall we say, very revealing. That picture you've posted doesn't look at all like what I've seen.

Not from "Richo" but Ricoh Imaging confirmed they're working on a new APS-C flagship.

1. I'm not a Pentax historian but based on my quick internet research Ricoh/Pentax doesn't do months ahead official product announcements prior to the release of its digital cameras. The K-7 a Hoya/Pentax product was announced in May of 2009 and shipped in July of 2009. The K-5 also a Hoya/Pentax product was announced Sept of 2010 and shipped October of 2010. The K-3 was announced in October 2013 and shipped in November 2013. The KP was announced Jan 2017 and shipped Feb 2017. So I don't see any months ahead product announcements, there have been rumors but no official announcements.

2. The founding of the parent company of Asahi Optical Company happened in November of 2019, its now July of 2019 with four more months before the official date and based on Ricoh/Pentax customary method of announcement I would expect a significant announcement in October and not sooner. If its not announced by then it will come when they have the camera ready, I'm sure you would not want a new DSLR with major or even minor problems that have to be corrected via warranty and neither does Ricoh/Pentax.

3. In these days of the shrinking digital camera market Ricoh/Pentax is doing the prudent thing and not plunging head first into the shallow end of the digital camera swimming pool only to hit its head and drown. As has been discussed on Pentax Forums to excess, Ricoh/Pentax with limited resources has to be prudent and not follow the crowd of Lemmings headed for the cliff.

So have patience Grasshopper good things will come to those who wait or sell your KP and chase the latest and greatest from other brands its your choice.

Aha. Clearly you've seen very different images to what I found. My apologies.

Thanks for your patient, maybe I'm so hasty, or I won't use a signature picture like now (о´∀`о)
However one thing I found that other brands will tell customers like "our XXXXX product is now under researching or testing" I hope Ricoh can at least tell us that our new product is under which process, not mean lens, I mean, new camera.
I prefer DSLR rather than mirrorless and I never want to take a mirrorless, However I can't take full frame because it is so heavy, if plus lens will be both expensive and heavy so I choose APSC , that's why I'm so hasty.
I found KP can't satisfied me on astro shooting and AFC, chasing birds and object in high speed movement still cause high rate failure, and OVF of KP has few numbers of focusing point than I hope, compare with K1, the OVF is not quite comfortable.
Others, KP is a good friend to me
And my photo was just picked up by Ricoh Imaging yesterday and will be shown at morning on 26th, I submit 3, 2 of it get awards. (*'ω'*)

Yes you are a bit hasty and your GIF of one of the most obnoxious personalities on television is very annoying too.

Obviously you haven't read any of the CP+2019 interviews with the Ricoh/Pentax executives conducted by Adam and others. Lens development is part of what an optical company does.

Maybe you should try to improve your birding technique as I have seen plenty photos taken with various Ricoh/Pentax DSLRs that can attest to Ricoh/Pentax DSLRs being able to capture the images you desire.

If you can understand Japanese, take a look at this video of a presentation, which is on Ricoh's own Youtube channel. 35:20 is where they talk about the next DSLR, with the lead developer on the stage. It's a high-end DSLR in APS-C format. So in fact, Ricoh has been talking about this camera directly.

I know him, Gordon Ramsay right? I'm a fun of hell' kitchen and think it as a very funny show, I know it is extremely rude but I always wonder that if Gordon can treat master chef junior's children in Hell's kitchen way, wonderful! I can't wait to watch that (*'ω'*)

Mark, the image you found was a thermal IR image. Very useful for seeing where things are hot and where they are not and you don't need a radiation source to see anything that has variable heat output.
The specs on the KP IR seem to be saying that it is sensitive for wavelengths up to 1100 nm which is near IR. Near IR has similar properties to visible light but is absorbed by water and reflected or absorbed by assorted other materials which visible light passes through. This is a wavelength that would be useful for night vision, particularly if you have a near IR radiation source. Near IR can do unexpected things with some materials and wet fabric might produce some unusual results.
Trying to interpret what colour something is in IR photography can be challenging. E.g. Animals that have patterns on their coats can show no pattern. Feathers also can show unexpected patterns.

I'm wondering what they will be knocking them out for and if they will sell to foreign research bodies? Also wondering if certain lenses may not work fully with it because certain elements might filter out the longer wavelengths. I know I have some off-brands that seem to posterise reds.

Interesting that they chose to put it into a KP body rather than a K3ii type body. Comparing the specs with the KP, it really looks like they have just taken the IR/UV filter off the sensor. No special flash. Seems they might have tricked up the auto focus to work in IR.

Would have been cool if they modified the mirror to be a filter. And there is no mention of an ability to apply false colour in camera.
