What would be the likely price of K-M?

Here in the land of Oz a K200d is $565 and K20D is $1225. Both of those are body only.

Where do you think the K-M will fit in this pricing scheme. Obviously cheaper than the K200d but by how much? Let's say it was $450, wouldn't most people just get the K200d then? If it is around $400 then that is very very cheap.

I'm still on a K100d and will eventually upgrade to the K20d replacement (K30d?) but I could do with the extra mega-pixels now. If it was as cheap as $400...... WOW!

Price is bound to drop as time flows, and price aside, the k-m is smaller than k200d, something that some people value.

I just wonder where pentax will position it against the other two K2x models.
Size does not matter to me.

I'd be shocked, and pleasantly surprised, if it is significantly cheaper than the k200d.

Ok.... i looked on tekade.de. There is a 17 Euro price difference between the K200D kit and the km kit. For 17 Euro more why wouldn't you get the K200d?

To me it doesn't make sense. Why bring out to cameras (probably with the same sensor) that are priced 17 euro apart.

I think 700 US dollars to start.

Then dropping to 450 US dollars or something.

you are missing the point.
To some people, the size and weight is the deciding factor, not the price.
My gf would probably rather pay x for a lighter, smaller body than the same price for a heavy one

4990 SEK here in Sweden with 18-55 (MK1?), which would indicate a US$ price at ~$500.

Aha! The penny drops. It's smaller and lighter (and has a built in MP3 player....joke) and that is what people want.

I didn't even think that way about cameras at all.... they are the size they are because they need to be. If you look at phones and mp3 players then smaller is better or at least more portable.

Now they need a 15 to 150mm zoom the size of a pancake.

Schmik, i'd say K-m Kit would be about 550 from Teds/DSE powerhouse, 500 from DCW (where you sourced your prices) at the start

that's my guess anyway. and CRK would be foolish to pair it with that crappy Sigma kit too...

K-m pricing in Canada

The Suggested Retail price is $599 but, IMVHO, a more realistic retail
price should be around the $550(ish) range

Cheers,

Jack

This would be for the kit. Any idea whether it will be available body only in Canada?

Good that they decided to use the K-m name in Canada...

One interesting thing to note:
The pentax website says the K2000/K-m Kit includes the body, kit lens, AND the the PENTAX AF200FG flash.

I think that's an interesting move on pentax's part. Definately sets them apart from the canikon entry level equivalents as they don't offer a dedicated flash with their kits.
