In whose name? It'd be good to know, because there are still people inferring the design belongs to Tokina.

Edit: I just translated the page, and it's in Ricoh's name.

Tokina? Do you think it makes any sense that Ricoh would apply a patent on Tokina's behalf?
People "inferred" it's a Sigma, then Tamron, then Tokina - because they just hate Pentax and Pentax designing lenses is a Pentax that continues to exist. Ignore the hate.

The only "naming" news is that it's a Ricoh patent, and not Ricoh Imaging.

Well, I don’t think that makes any sense, but there are people who say these things. The patent proves them wrong.

Just the fact that somebody said Tokina in this thread will be enough

Patents are not enough except for the reasonable people. I provided patent numbers and authors only to be told all the work was done by Tokina, Ricoh just applied the patent

村山 稔=むらやま みのる=Minoru Murayama
He is the designer of this lens.
And application was raised by Ricoh

I don't care about the patent. If that was going to be useful, I'd prefer some software features for Pentax cameras, and a couple of prime lenses to mount on K cameras.

There’s no arguing with unreasonable people. It’s the reasonable people who read their comments that I’m more concerned to set straight.

Because Pentax doesn't have a long history of excellent optics or something.

What? No. They can’t do that to themselves.

The lens is a Masterpiece and I have one. They’re jealous bullies.
