The only "naming" news is that it's a Ricoh patent, and not Ricoh Imaging.
Hmmm...

He has nearly 20 years of optical design experience.

In fact,ISAORI, Masakazu(小織 雅和
)is also the designer of DFA*501.4,who design DFA*70-200/2.8,DA*16-50/2.8,DA*50-135/2.8,DA70/2.4,DA21/3.2,DA16-45/4,DA17-70/4,DA18-250,DA18-135,DA18-55,PENTAX Q02,Q06,even participated in the design of the 645 DFA90/2.8,DFA25/4,DA28-45.

Maybe public more the patent of DFA*50 later.

Patents are not enough except for the reasonable people. I provided patent numbers and authors only to be told all the work was done by Tokina, Ricoh just applied the patent
Yeah, right. Like Tokina would be happy with doing all the hard work with research and development, and give Ricoh the patent.

Some game-maker should make a real cool e-game out of this "Defending the Pentax Dome".

And put some Ricoh engineer's name as author, even if that would be a blatant lie and illegal.
This was the claim the troll made.

That's pretty funny, Ron. Sometimes I feel that way, too. But often the irritation of Pentaxians is justified.

Just in another thread overhere today that surprised me:

Tamron makes most of the kit lenses for Canon & Nikon and probably Sony. They also make the Batis lenses for Zeiss. Most of Tamron's business comes from making lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax. At one point Sony was the largest share holder in Tamron.
I didn't know that Tamron made all those lenses for all those company's. Somehow not all the fanboys of all those company's panic or freakout about such things. They just buy lenses and use them.

I am not sure why you care either way, Ron. Let's just be clear though that the Pentax has said that Tamron makes the 15-30, 24-70 and 18-270. Pentax has said that they make the rest of their lenses themselves. When others say that they are unable to design a top end lens like the DFA * 50 and it must be from another maker, it is problematic.

Beyond which, none of the lenses you mentioned are top end lenses. No one really cares who makes or designs lower tier lenses. On the other hand, show up on a Sony Forum and tell them that their G Master lenses were designed by Samyang or Tamron and see what response you get.

Ron, I don't think most Pentaxians care who makes the kit lenses. What annoys Pentax fans is when a premium Pentax lens - a lens with the "Star" designation - is attributed to a non-Pentax company. A lens such as the D FA* 50mm F1.4 or D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 is supposed to represent the best of Pentax lens design. So when people state those lenses are re-badges from another company, they do so either out of careless ignorance or genuine malice. Either way, this negatively impacts the Pentax image, and also is simply not true, and why should people find untruth acceptable?
