The K series digital SLR camera currently under development will be exhibited at the "PENTAX Meeting 100th Anniversary Special" scheduled to be held in Japan on September 21st.

  • Model name: to be announced later.
  • Flagship model of our K-mount digital SLR camera equipped with an APS-C size image sensor.
  • Currently under development for market launch in 2020.
  • Price: Not decided.

The third (and forth) dial from the K-1 (II) makes a return and there appears to be a sensor under the viewfinder.
Also noteworthy: An AF-joystick.

Nice.

Heh, just wait for them to showcase the 100/150mp MF and 60mp FF along with this as a 26mp APSC.

Despite this being great news, let's see how long it takes for someone to complain.

As long as this has the viewfinder LCD of the K-1, its an instant preorder for me. Shame about the lack of tilt screen though.

Shape, dial placement looks much like the K-1 and K-1II.

Built in GPS and no pop-up flash.

And, above and to the right of the green button is something which can only be a joystick.

I'm going to guess touch-screen too, based on what looks like a proximity sensor for touch-screen auto on/off directly below the viewfinder.

My favourite part, I couldn't afford this camera this year, anyway. No sign of a conventional flippy rear screen, but there is a definite line around it, so perhaps the lunar lander gear introduced for the K-1?

Doesn't the K-1 have something to turn off the rear screen if your eye is pressed to the viewfinder? There also appears to be a light or sensor of some sort near the bottom of the right thumb rest.

Looks very promising, though I'd much rather have a tilting screen than a touchscreen. But I like the form factor and the joystick.

That's the card access lamp. Same location as on K-1.

It may be a very short thread.

Almost to the end of the first page. Someone needs to start a "Why I'm not buying the unnamed Pentax APS-C camera" thread.

Something else I have just noticed: Note the button to the left of the AE Metering button. On the K-1, that button on the very left is the LV (Live View) button. Why would they blank out the LV script on the button?

Anyone else surprised that Ricoh beat all the leakers by posting non-obscured photos on their official website? This doesn't follow past behaviour from the Ricoh Imaging people at all, something has definitely changed internally since the K-1 was brought to market.
