No flash, bummer.

But....

The flash mount and viewfinder seem to be mounted further back. Either making room for bigger noses or for something around the prism

...

GPS module?? Would make sense to have one as in the K-3ii as this would be its successor (as opposed to the k-p that doesnt have one). would make the deal for me as i'm now split between a used k-3ii or a new k-p to replace my k-5. Guess i'll wait just a bit longer for the specs to be released to make that call..

Looks substantially different, however... it's larger and has a different shape. All the other buttons are basically identical.
It is probalably a rocker switch (on/off), not just a button. Then you enable/disable the special functions dial.

You reccon Tanaka misspelled UI when he said GUI? GUI is "graphical user interface" and there's no such thing visible yet.

Something else I have just noticed: Note the button to the left of the AE Metering button. On the K-1, that button on the very left is the LV (Live View) button. Why would they blank out the LV script on the button?
The Ricoh GR3 has a movie button just around the corner there. Curious to see if they choose to do something similar with this model.

I depend on the flip screen on my KP bodies. Not say that I won't get one on that basis alone, but I'll at least be forced to keep a KP for astro, macro, and other times when I really, really need a movable screen. How hard is it to stick a flip screen on there?

I'm really impressed they seem to be going for fixed LCD. Thats always been on my wishlist for the next Pentax.
Me too. And like the K-7, K-5 and K-3, i think they should stick to fixed screen on this one also. Feels more rugged.
That is, if the smartphone app works properly.

We will know more about this one by end of September.
I will keep enjoying my KP and have that one on radar for next year!

Well it certainly isn't text based.

Haha as a Linux CLI user I'd be thrilled with a Pentax command line. Even a ncurses style tui would be fantastic

Wouldn't want to input using only those knobs though

Polish pentax facebook page says the prototype is goiing to be presentend in Japan 21 september. Anyone going to see it?
There is also one more pic (from back-top).
From picture there we can see the button on the left i labeled as [LV]
Also, we can see what's on top lcd, so we know there are 2 SD card slots.
And what's the symbol on 3rd posiotion on ON/OFF switch?

They have an image of K1 II, not the APS-C prototype.
