Polish pentax facebook page says the prototype is goiing to be presentend in Japan 21 september. Anyone going to see it?
There is also one more pic (from back-top).
From picture there we can see the button on the left i labeled as [LV]
Also, we can see what's on top lcd, so we know there are 2 SD card slots.
And what's the symbol on 3rd posiotion on ON/OFF switch?
That's the K-1?!1

I agree, I’d rather have a tilting screen for low angles (particularly that I now have back disc problems).

IR port on back side and green button on back, not top, are top-of-class features. ISO on top, not on 4-way, is also a top-of-class feature. K-7/5/3 styling with third top dial. Beautiful. This will be very worth the wait. And a joystick! Super!

Looking at the cut through of previous Pentax cameras it seems the prism overhang is the AF point display. So perhaps new tech related to this. I've previously complained the red lights are a bit mushy compared to say Nikon's.

I'm liking the mystery buttons and unfilled spaces on the top selector dial - what they don't want to make known is always fun, and should keep PF fuelled for months - and I like the way that Pentax still resolutely go their own way - not doing stuff just because everyone else is or just because you can is the only way to make coherent cameras - which is what they do

Well played, Ricoh, well played.

(...wondering how much they paid that blogger, Jen, in Colorado...)
Some years ago I promised my wife I would complete a project “this summer”.

I completed it on the last day of summer a few hours before fall actually started.

I am not a fan of the top dials. I am a fan of articulating screens. I also like large top LCDs. On the K-1 I hardly use the top dial. I would if I could switch IBIS focal lenght with it, but it doesn't do that so I have to dive into the menu all the time or switch the camera off and on again.... Also the top control dial is too stiff. They should make a third dial in the style of the front and rear dial. This one is definitely not for me even if the small sensor under the VF means a hybrid viewfinder.

I don't think I'll afford a new camera next year, and I'm still enjoying my K-50 (no aperture issues yet), but this news really made my day

Finally some confirmation that all those rumours are true.
It looks really cool, a bit like the Pentax AP.
Happy birthday!

I'm still betting on an articulated rear screen. Notice how the viewing area (dark) is asymmetrical? I think it might house a side hinge. Looks like this aps-c combines the best of K-3ii and K-70 so I will part exchange these for the new baby. Delighted to see that so much of the K-1 is finding its way into this little beauty.

Pentax patented a type of hybrid viewfinder a couple of years back, so hopefully they make use it with this new beauty!

The front of the prism certainly doesn’t look as if it overhangs as far as the K-3II’s does. There are two ‘holes’ in the bevel, one each side of the the name. Either stereo microphones (unlikely) or possibly mount illumination.
