A fully articulating screen is essential for astrophotography and landscape photography.

Love my K-70 for that feature alone... Camera low on tripod in portrait mode swivelled on lens collar... No problem!

The fact that the button that is marked LV in the K-1 isn't labelled might be an indication that something interesting is happening, but too early to get the hopes up

I think this thread is slowing the site.

I'm very excited about this camera. That big screen would be amazing for portraits.

Odd: Kimio Tanaka seems to be disturbed by something related to this announcement. I don't understand what or why.

Twitter

In a former tweet he ironised about the camera actually being a 101st anniversary model and forecasted a summer 2020 availability, now he talks about the camera being available for the 110th anniversary.

Wonder what the lock button above the raw button does?

I think it 's down to, although the model has been announced and will be shown for the 100th anniversary, it will actually be released next year, the 101st year anniversary.

He goes on to complain why a model hasn't been released thus far and questions why one won't.

The fact that there's a completely unlabeled button on the top left of the back leads me to think that this is a prototype...a fairly advanced one, but still not finished. So still holding out hope that a finished one will have some form of articulating screen. Given that almost all higher end cameras have them now, seems very strange to go back on that.

It locks the buttons like on the K-1 (Temporary disables dial and button operations to prevent misoperation (p.41 in manual))

Our local "Target" store sells only Micro-SD now ..... worker in Electronics Section said that since package includes adapter, this makes sense since they carry less inventory this way. If other stores think that way, Micro-SD would make sense for Pentax since they do take up less space - and they give people more things to complain about!

Now we need the M42 body with the sensor behind a mechanically cranked shutter.

I won't be buying this because my K-5 is still more than adequate for all the things I want an APS-C DSLR to do, and my K-1 handles everything the K-5 can't, but it is good to see it appear.

I dislike articulaton - one of the reasons I got KP instead of K-70. KP hides screen behind body so I can be more discrete in my photography.

It looks like they are still using the same basic body as the K-7. (no articulating/flippy screen is also testament to that). The sensor is probably there to kill the screen when de viewfinder is used. Will it have new AF? Will it have a new sensor? Will it have the NR chip or a new image processor? No pop up flash but also no sign of Wi-Fi or GPS?

To justify buying another new camera I would be forced to sell the K10-D, K-01, K-5lls, and KP, plus a lot of lenses and film cameras. Whatever technology it introduces, I should probably sell all that stuff anyway, stick with K-1 and buy the FF replacement when it is released with the new tech.

OWTH. I’ll probably buy it.
