That little nick in the lower right corner of the LCD can't be a flip out screen. You'd have to, as mentioned above, save a nail long to flip it out makes no sense and certainly not Pentax like.
A voice activated solenoid like car door poppers could solve this.

Maybe its just a focus on the Ricoh GR III and the Theta technology plus the current market climate for ILCs that makes it hard for Pentax to run a regular speed development schedule?

I think it would be wise to not let one's imagination run too wild. The likely outcome will be disappointment in a product that does not deserve such a reception.

I think it absolutely fantastic that Pentax showed us a sign of life and any improvement on the K-3 II would be very welcome. It won't have to have new cutting edge technology, AFAIC.

For Cankon, the f/4 is only a less expensive alternative to the f/2.8. The Pentax f/2.8 qualifies as the “less expensive alternative.”
They are still developing one, whether you think there is a need or not. An f/4 should be nice and light in comparison, and with the low light capabilities of the KP and K-1s you may not need the F2.8. I hope that the new camera is a low light champion like the KP is.

I’ll buy that.

I was hoping for a ground-up redesign of the entire system logic. Nevertheless it should be a good to great camera for K-mount users.

Thanks I finally found it on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of the leopard"

I guess that explains why the f/4 lens is on the roadmap and has a name ("HD Pentax-D FA 70-200mmF4") and was previously slated for 2019 release, now "2019 or later". The market exists for a Pentax lens the same as for the Canon and Nikon products. I, for one, am quite interested, and price break is not the major consideration.

Well that is a bit out of step with the forensic analysis of the images posted on the forum so far today? But I do agree.

I will take from this that you agree there is a difference in the pentaprism design from the two photos?
I was never very good at 'mechanical drawing' - at visualizing 3D details - as a kid, and now my eyes are 71 years old, so I really hate to base any conclusions on what I think I see.

It looks like a defect on the coating of the cover. Not really surprising to see on a prototype.
not a defect at all its a little cavity so the screen can be flipped out when you want to flip it out!

As they say nothing is finalized anyhow. It does look like some photoshop going on here with the images. Maybe the exhibit tomorrow will reveal more.
It looks like a good camera development from Ricoh.

But line is different from the side than K-1 or K-3. It does not look photoshopped. It is what it is now. I can clearly see that it is different. If they are going to reveal something in few days, it is not going to be a picture. It propably is going to be under the glass.

If you zoom in on the top and bottom right corner of the LCD you can see that the back is curved so the LCD is more recessed on the far right side. So it is quite the opposite of a cavity.

It looks like a bad match between LCD cover and back design.
