The designers have made a small niche to bring these curves together at the bottom. The niche is too small to be useful in pulling out a screen. Keep in mind that this is probably a sports/ birding camera. No need for articulated screen.
My KP has a flippy screen, which I use for
* taking photographs over things {like fences}
* taking very low photographs
* discrete photography since body hides screen from my subject(s)
Honestly, none of these is sports or birding.
