If this had decent AF I may finally be tempted to get my first Pentax APSC body and the 150-450 to add to my current kit of the K1 & 645Z. The joystick is a promising sign as this is a must for a good AF system that is fast to use when shooting wildlife. I guess it would be too much to expect that this will be released before a trip I have planned in April unfortunately.

Presentation time

Anyone know what time the presentation is and will a forum member be there?

That is not actually an indentation. It is where the body comes away from the corner of the screen (outwards). Nowhere to get a finger under.
No more Nichegate post from me.

Hope that this is a real winner, it has been a long time since I have felt good about Pentax. I have the K-1, K-3ii, K-3, and others. I have a lot of very excellent lenses. Even tried to sell some but can’t even realize 50 percent of cost. Yet I feel bad that I often get better pictures with a Panasonic G9, that I bought as part of the mirrorless craze and now use most of the time. In Technology today, five years is a lifetime, and I compete against some very wealthy guys who get new Cannon/Nikon/Sony often. It’s hard to do this with old equipment. Can I count on Pentax to keep up reasonable well both in still and video? Will my lens investment retain its value? Will I be able to compete? Will this new camera be as good as the competition? I will have to wait and see.

It is very clear from the full resolution image that this new flagship definitely has a pull-out screen of some kind. There is an obvious notch in the bottom right-hand corner for pulling it out. Very neat. So neat that they cop a lot of abuse from the PF whinging fraternity for not having an articulating screen. Ironic.

I like it. Looks like a well-thought design. Appears to be the typically clean and ergonomic and solid Pentax style.

i think they should stick to fixed screen on this one also. Feels more rugged.
Interesting take. If you flip the screen around and store it facing inwards, then it's more protected than if out

Personally I'd prefer this to be a mini K-1 but with the burst and buffer speed of the K-3.

Big thing for me is the video capabilities. You can't honestly release any new camera (DSLR or mirrorless) in 2020 that's not 4K resolution. I'd love to see the return of real psychical sensor stabilisation too, last seen on the K-5...

If that is an articulating screen it has to be the most flat/form fitting articulating screen on the market.
I doubt that this is a moving screen, doesn't look like it to me, the thing on the left is simply the door cover for the various ports. It's probably a 3d print out, looks unfinished at that bottom right of screen.

What I just noticed by enlarging the view on this computer as far as possible, at the lower right corner of the screen, near the "INFO" button, the body has a very small cutout that is probably for a fingernail to lift the screen or break the fingernail.
Everyone assumes that a movable LCD screen has to be pulled out. There is a possibility that such a screen could be operated with a “press-to-open” catch, but I must say that a notch of that shape wouldn’t be my first choice of either fingertip relief or “where-to-press” indicator. This is, of course, just a prototype, and the notch could be just a placeholder in the design.

yes quite possible, but I'm not convinced just yet, it does seem odd that bottom right

I can't see a GPS switch. Maybe there is something else under that pentaprism cover?

It is not a notch.Take a look at the rear e-dial. It has the same contour. Don't forget Penax cameras are WR. These sort of screens have to be rugged.

Many people forgot to turn on the GPS engine via the VF cover swirch on the K-1 during astrotracer usage. Perhaps they made it an e-dial function with this new body.
