Yes. I had compared the baseplate with my K-3 and the tripod mount and grip connector match. The battery compartment is also easily recognisable. So "3" is probably the label. There are a couple of points which (for me, anyway) standout. My label has K-3 on it so it is likely that the label on this one has the model number as well. That is a good enough reason to pixelate it. Why pixelate all of it? I would say that it was just an instruction to pixelate the base plate not a "Let's get 'em going" bit of fun.
But the image does show something else. The model number label on the K-3 is to the right of the tripod mount when you look at the base. It could not go above the tripod mount because there is not enough flat area for it. This shows quite clearly that this body has a bigger flat area of base plate in the area where the label has been placed (something that the other images suggest anyway). Since that won't be a space in which to carry your lunch, I can only assume that they needed more space for electronics - right under the lens mount. Could that be something to do with auto-focus improvements? Don't flame me - I am only speculating.
Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation -
@alpha75ts is right. It is a pop-down flash which would explain the electronics above it. A design by the Monty Python team!
The main point that this base plate tells us - if it is indeed the model number label - is that this thing is ready to "rock'n'roll". What you see is what you get, without the pixilation and the black tape. Release cannot be too far away.
