Every LCD screen can pop out with a good knife...

If the shown camera gets released as-is, it will have a fixed screen. The only chance at a movable LCD is if the back plate isn't final. And let's be honest, the chances of it being still in the works are slim if the white sticker actually says WS and means "Working Sample".

We said pop-out, never specified it had to *work*

You're probably right. I still think the camera is closer to market than they let on.
By the way, there is a strange statement on Ricoh Imaging FR, the official Facebook page of Ricoh Imaging France:

QuoteOriginally posted by Ricoh Imaging FR:
Notre nouveau DSLR APS-C sera annoncé lors de notre évènement pour nos 100 ans.
Source: Ricoh Pentax FR - Nous savons que vous avez envie de voir... | Facebook

Literally translated, it means 'Our new APS-C DSLR will be announced at our 100th anniversary event.'

I wonder whether this is true or they confused it with the working samples being showcased at the various 'Pentax - 100 Years of History' events.

In my opinion, all cameras have reached such a high level of performance that it is becoming increasingly difficult to bring anything revolutionary to the market. New cameras will have little new to offer over existing cameras.
Software can offer a small opportunity in this area, eking new capabilities out of the same hardware. Adding the likes of pixel shift is an example.

There are easy win opportunities there, such as automated focus stacking or 4x composition adjustment for a wider field of view, or even perhaps automated lens focus fine adjustment when compared to live view?

Worth mentioning that where hardware permits, Pentax could add those features via firmware updates to previous models too...

I think they read the thread about wines and started sampling, heavily
If the camera won't be on the market this year, there will be no announcement. Just a presentation/pre-annoucement like we've already seen. IMO.

Well all that we know is that. But they can be already shooting away with it somewhere and beta version is ready for launch by then? Given that this would be hitting stores 2020 it is quite possible.

It was certainly my intention to imply that the balance of evidence was against a pop-out screen, though I'd personally prefer it - I use it a lot on my K-1 - but it would be foolish to ignore the factors which give credence to the possibility, however little: to my eye - and I'm obviously working only from photographs - the gap between the screen and the moulding of the camera body is larger than in your GRIII - there might be other reasons for this and it might not even be the case, I was just trying to present the evidence fairly. There is also presumably a reason why the LHS button is unmarked. My intention was to say that these factors (if real, in the case of the screen) need an explanation, but the balance of probability was against that explanation being a pop-out screen. That's all.

So, is it really a wish list, or a veiled leak?

I want a new autofocus system and a new display with a button to open the new mechanic.

Than a long buffer and more pictures per second.

A renewed stabilisation system is also a nice wish.

Best regards"
I will say that I'm pretty excited about this "new mechanic" Pentax is offering just with the push of a button. Because my old mechanic isn't that great and is awfully expensive.

I wonder if the new mechanic can service all vehicles or only those that are Japanese makes? (Doesn't matter to me, I own Toyotas)...

Capacity of the li90 is 1800mAH, most cell phones are 3000mAH+ so I don't see why they couldn't do it.
The K70's call quality sucks too, and not that much better on the KP. By the way does anyone know how to un-mount my *55 from an iPhone XR?

This would follow the pattern of the K-1 release: shown in Oct as an unnamed prototype under glass, then in Nov with a (rumored) name. Announced at CP+ in Feb, shipping in April. We'll see.

If correct I wonder when dealer marketing would start and what the preorder inventory target would be.

From Ricoh Imaging France's newsletter:

If it's really possible to put one's hands on the camera, French people on this forum will report on the mysterious label on the bottom and, of course, the unlabelled button and its use.

Ejector rear LCD, beware, here we come!

Well it sounds like a working prototype, it seems unlikely that a pop out screen is there, but that would be cool.

just for the record, i think i was the first to mention a bottom button for the screen to pop out. so if it turns out to be true and everyone hates it, just blame me

maybe they have figured out high speed communucation to cell phones and your phone is the popped out screen... kind of works now until the app crashes. new rumored software in camera might help?

On a side note, AFAIK, Pentax DSLRs never embedded (till now) charging circuits, did they?
The GRIII does so maybe....

The GR III definitely does, as does the Theta Z1.
The WG-6 has it and I must admit that I'm spoiled by this little camera. It is excellent in terms of usability in software and hardware.
