Besides, the Leica SL2 being $6,000 and its close cousin the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1R $3,700, the red dot is no more than $2,300.
Perhaps pressing the red dot on the SL2 reveals what the unlabeled button on the K-nu does...?

Interesting point, thank you Mistral

About 3 months & 20 days until CP+ 2020. I wonder if we'll get more info before, during, or after the event.

^ I wouldn't bet too much on this. Ricoh use to communicate when they are ready to.

"It'll be ready when it's ready--and not a moment before!" The masters at Pentax move at their own pace.

We’ll only get more before the event if they’ve got other things they’re keeping quiet about, would be my guess. In this case, I imagine they felt that putting out early information about the new APS-C body was necessary to keep some level of interest going, both in the brand and the format.

Agree. With its 100th year anniversary and all this gloomy talk, I believe Ricoh had to appease users that they're still committed to Pentax. Showing the camera earlier is telling us, yes we are committed and something is coming.

I believe this is the important part. Obviously something they aren't talking about happened - the "K-3" shelf was empty way too long for it to be planned - but it is good to see something, instead of the just words we had been getting.

For those that disappointed that the new K apsc camera isn’t mirrorless, looks like that market is not a good one to chase. Here’s an excerpt from Nikon’s full financial report.
Imaging Products Business: Challenges and Positioning
Business challenges
- Market deterioration in DCIL including ML cameras is worse than expected.
- Sales plan for ML cameras was overestimated.
- Across the business as a whole, slow execution on drawn out decision making.
- The competitive environment will intensify further on price and technological development alike.

Doesn't surprise me.... those that wanted something new to tinker with that were excited about mirrorless have probally scratched that itch..... the rest of us just wait for stuff to help us take better photographs..... or have other itches.
