Monkeys have been known to fling their poo around. You may end up with some nasty spots on your sensor.

Now we know what the unlabeled button does - it releases the nano-monkeys from their cage to clean the sensor (and sweep up any errant pixie dust).
As long as it also redeposits the pixie dust back in the lenses so that there is no loss of pixie dust over time.

That's done by the nano-weasels to whom the nano-monkeys report.

We also can't forget about the nano-mice who scrub the rear elements and remove all the dust from inside the lenses. They live a very tenuous existence alongside the nano-weasels...

Protected by the nano-kitty that lives inside the sd card door that only comes out when the menagerie starts to get out of hand.

All under the watchful eyes of the nano-guard dog who is supposed to protect the camera and lens from bumps, drops, and scratches.

The mystery button on the animals/sports photography future APSC is just set to immobilize the subject, sending a high energy laser that stops or kills (depending on the power level) the animal, or sportman, so that it will be easy to take the photo.

No, no, no... the button stops time for a small fraction of a second to allow the substandard Pentax autofocus to get a lock on the subject.

It’s a separate button because it drains the battery...

Now that is a cool feature. I think I'm going to get the k-new because of that feature.

I just love speculations here in pentaxforums.

Actually, the mystery button activates the Omega 13 from "GalaxyQuest".

Fork the k-new over Ricoh. This thread is going far far away deep into the galaxy.

The next thing we'll hear is that button will summon your fairy godmother.
