That is the most important part of this - I agree.

I don't know if Pentax release a camera this year or next; it doesn't matter - they have provided evidence that they are making progress and are working on the final steps.
Indeed!

The new Pentax will, quite likely, also include some new sensors - developed by Ricoh Imaging. Not the main imaging sensor, that should be Sony.
There's a recent patent about such sensors, appears to be targeted at metering and/or AF sensors - actually IIRC about some aspect which would improve the sensitivity.
Are you saying Pentax will make sensors? Is that the case currently? I've never heard of this I just assumed they bought pretty much all the electronics.

I always forget about the Theta and what tech and knowhow that can bring along.

Both Theta and GR offer design and testing platforms that can transfer tech support to Pentax-brand cameras (like lenses of Theta and GR could transfer from Pentax engineers).

They certainly design the AF sensors. I don’t think it is known whether they actually fabricate them or farm it out, but I suspect Ricoh has fab capability.

Ricoh Imaging/Ricoh is clearly developing semiconductors, as proven by the patents. Producing them might be done by a third party.

I tried that, it made no difference. Always gave me the same writing.
It works well for me (unlike a few years ago). Are you using Chrome?

Mine has too. I measured the battery voltages and all seemed fine, swapped in my K7 battery which has had an easier life and haven't had any problems yet.
Batteries can cause a myriad of problems with the K-3, so its best to keep a non-suspect battery or several. I've had to discard a few batteries once problems occur.

Interesting. As previously mentioned it never occured to me. Always felt like they were mechanical engineers first.

I've had the KP for just about a year; so far I've had no battery problems {2 "by Pentax", 1 "by Wasabi", and 1 "by Kastar"; I don't know who actually makes any of them}

Nope. The Canon EOS 70D came out first (July 2013), followed by the 80D (February 2016) with a new sensor. Then, in February 2017, came out the 77D with the same sensor as the 80D in a cheaper package.
I'm so confused????

My Pentax battery is the weakest one I have and it came with the K-3 when I bought it almost 6 years ago. My other 3 are Wasabi and I just discarded two Wasabi that were bought just after I purchased my K-3.

So you're saying that the Pentax batteries don't last the advertised 500 recharges, or do you recharge often enough that you reach 500 recharges in 5 or 6 years??

Does anyone keep track or count how many times they recharge camera batteries? Certainly wouldn’t want my camera to pop a note on screen telling me I’ve reached the recharge count limit.
