Hurray, we have another thread to talk how great this camera will be even if we don't know anything ;-)
Don't get me wrong. I'm in hype train too and waiting for literally any news, even like this one ;-)

Indeed, it could be the video mode that prevents the Ricoh Imaging representative to proclaim the K-New as superior to the Canon EOS 90D. If so, no big deal.
Sorry to insist, but :
EOS 90D : 32,5 Mpix
K-2 as rumored : 26 Mpix
D500 : 20,9 Mpix.
Easy to "class" according to the currently persisting "best" selling race

^ If Ricoh developers are now ranking cameras, their and their competitors', according to the number of MP of their sensor, I'm going to start worrying...

Yeah, I fail to see how Canon's 32.5MP resolution can be used to rank it higher... at least, not if raw image performance is a factor. See below, DPR comparison of KP vs 90D at ISO 12,800 with the 90D's output sized to the same dimensions as the KP...

K-2 as rumored
I suspect it will be a K-3 something. In one of these pics there is what appears to be a Blackjack hand - and the card turned over is a 3. If someone is having a bit of fun with the speculation, the other two cards might add up to 18. But I think you would have to know a bit of Japanese to work out the possibilities. I can think of a few, but none appear really likely (including the K and then 8 being 1000 in binary). Or it may be a 'sounds like' thing which I wouldn't have a clue about.I like puzzles and I like to think that someone may have set some puzzles in this.

Peter, I think you should switch off the PC, go for a nice long walk in the fresh air and think about something else for a while...

Blackjack hand = 21. K is the 11th letter of the alphabet. 21 - 11 = 10. 10 - 3 = 7.
3 is 11 in binary. 7 is 111 in binary.

11 11 111. K-3 III. 11 + 3 + 7 = 21. Blackjack.

I appreciate your concern, Mike. I am in the fresh air - sitting in the sun just after daybreak in Burketown (Google that) which is about as close to the end of the earth as you can get. I am about to go and start my day's work with the Aboriginal Rangers. I was just having a bit of fun myself!

No worries, my friend. It's an unpublicised and unofficial service we offer when someone appears to have had too much Pentax-related thinking time... But I see you're fine after all

Wow. What a fantastic location Must be a wonderful place to do some work. I guess the weather is improving by now?

I've checked out some places for you to refresh yourself after your day's work. Looking through the list of available watering holes on Tripadvisor, it seems the best rated one is the Burketown Pub. Actually, that looks like the only one At least it's pretty well rated

Be safe!

I believe in one of the interviews they said it would not be another K-3.
If it is as 'special' as they seem to say, they'll have to find another name to distinguish it from the K-3 family.

Is there still a train from Cairns that heads out that way?

especially since Pentax has been focusing on graceful higher ISO performance. The EOS 5DS series has very large sensors {in mp}, but as I predicted even before it came out, it is rather limited in ISO settings. I keep comparing other cameras to the KP, but I expect the 'K-3ii replacement' to do better once it is released.

Probably the result of what would once have been described as a mis-spent youth!
