I appreciate your concern, Mike. I am in the fresh air - sitting in the sun just after daybreak in Burketown (Google that) which is about as close to the end of the earth as you can get. I am about to go and start my day's work with the Aboriginal Rangers. I was just having a bit of fun myself!
PJ1, we have something in common, we both live further north than everyone else. Lerwick (google that!)

Burketown Pub. Actually, that looks like the only one
Yes, but it is quite a well presented establishment.

Is there still a train from Cairns that heads out that way?
There are two. The Savannahlander runs rom Cairns to Forsayth (850km) between March and December. That is the little rail motor. Then the Gulf Lander runs up from Croydon to Normanton once a week. They are both tourist/heritage lines. A lot of railway buffs do the trips as groups.

You beat me by a fat margin;

Lervick = 60.1530° N
Oslo = 59.9139° N

I don't actually live here. Just a bit of work. I was on Mornington Island for a couple of days, then here but I leave in the morning to got to Normanton and home down south on Saturday. We are getting ready to prep the Aboriginal Rangers for some training programs. If we get those up I will be back for a week or two here and there. It's sparsely populated up here. But I googled Lerwick. I hope to get to the Shetlands one day. I have always thought they were somewhere I should see before my bucket list becomes a teacup. (And now I have hijacked this thread enough.)

Love it! I knew someone would have a go. I prefer K3-1000 - K for the mount (and for King which counts as 10), 3 as the new identifier for APS-C and 1000 (binary 8 for the digital age) in homage to the K1000 . 10 + 3 + 8 = 21

More simply: the 3 is face up, it doesn't count. K for King = 10. 1000 as binary 8. K-1000.

So entry level? Ah shucks

Will it have a hand-crank to manually power up the sensor, considering the namesake was all-mechanical?

I intend to go on them at some stage.

I'm sure there were no hard feelings. For now, anyway. :P

Still, the Nikon did the job as the pictures are great.
