I doubt that too,Canon released their M/L and Dslr that were simultaneously developed at the same time.

Why delay 6 months?....they are vastly different cameras that share same sensor.

Heck, 15 fps is basically top of the line for APS-C.
Fuji X-T3 is 30 fps raw capable (electronic shutter, 1,25x crop) ; and 20 fps fps raw full 26 Mpix resolution capable (electronic shutter).

February 2015, to September 2014 of the NX1... so both were most likely in development simultaneously. If you have two products almost ready for release, and you think they will sell well, there's no real reason to cancel them.
I know nothing about Samsung development, but based on my time in American industry, I'm guessing there were two different development teams which worked closely enough together that they could exchange ideas with each other. For some reason, the NX1 was finished first, so it was released first.

My thoughts exactly.

"Simultaneously" meaning "In parallel", not that the teams finished the same day. The alternative is having the NX500 go from "no specs defined" to completion in about 5 months.

True, but the NX1 has, from what I see, 15 fps with mechanical shutter (plus 40 RAW buffer), which is significantly higher than the X-T3's 11 fps and 36 RAW.

Did you forget to read the "my thoughts" part or are you being contrarian for the sake of it? I was agreeing in that, from my own experience, development cycles of similar products overlap a lot.

Have there been any hints, patents, or other news about Samsung developing a new apsc sensor beyond the capabilities of the one in the NX1 in the past 3 years? I still think it would be a major surprise if we don’t see a Sony sensor in the new K.

Let's add the fact that Samsung is closing its Exynos SOC division.

The only possibility would be if Samsung somehow kept a bunch of sensors around, which is anyway unlikely. We'll see soon enough, anyway.

We'll see... what?
The Samsung sensor theory, just like "Ricoh/Nikon/someone will save Samsung!", is nothing more than wet dreaming... the hope that, somehow, a completely unrealistic option might solve all of Pentax' (or Samsung's/whatever's) issues.
It doesn't work like that in the real life. And the old Samsung sensor isn't that special anymore.

Whether it is the good old 24 MP sensor, a 26 MP one, or something that we haven't thought about. Fun speculation and banter is wet dreaming now? Come on, don't take it so seriously

Samsung doesn't really need any saving, now does it? They probably decided that focusing on smartphone cameras was the way to go, which is not necessarily a bad decision.

No, just thinking they'd get some Samsung tech and all will be magically solved
As long as it doesn't involve magic, speculation is fine I'd guess...

So far, I haven’t heard anyone mention the sensor on the Argus used in the Harry Potter films, so I think we’re good.

I’m a bit skeptical that a five-year-old Samsung sensor from a product line that’s been ended would a great choice, even if it were available.

It would have to meet a high threshold for dynamic range and high-iso sensitivity, in addition to being fast and having a few more megapixels.

That said, it would be OK to be surprised with something better than I expect...

Even in the smartphone business, they closed their custom SOC division. So the supposedly magical sensor+SOC combination is dead.

Necromancy is a form of magic.
