Are you sure the K-3ii has the accelerator? They did ad Pixel Shift, the accelerator was first added in the K-70.
K3-ll did not have the Accelerator.

The answer in #364 was better than mine. With Pentax, at least, you cannot use designation to determine whether a change is major or minor. For example, there was virtually no difference between the K-30 and the K-50. Ricoh provided a conversion between the K-1 and the K-1ii that involved a board change; I believe a board change would have also been involved in a conversion of a K-3 to a K-3ii, but there were too many physical changes to make it happen. In short, Pentax has had changes that were minor, but introduction of the K-3ii was not one of them. On the other hand, it looks like Pentax will not have introduced any new camera in over two years by the time this camera comes out, and more to the point, the “K-3 shelf” is empty.
Wasn't the k30-k50 little more than a body shape change because the k30 was deemed too aggressive lol

For those who complain about the battery size on the K-P the battery grip is one possible answer. On my k-3, in 6 years I've probably changed batteries during a shoot 5 times. And when shooting all in the same session, I've exceeded 800 images without changing batteries.

If you're shooting in the studio you can always use the AC adapter to power your camera. No need to change batteries that way.

I used the battery fgrip a lot when the K-3 as my main camera, but since I bought the K-1.I use the K-3 mostly for insect macros, and the grip too often gets in the way of low shots, soI haven't used it for a couple of years now

That's actually a great idea, thanks. I know it came to mind eons ago when I really didn't need an ac adapter but for whatever
reason(*) I hadn't thought about it since beginning all this studio work.

This thread is about the "K-3ii replacement". A battery grip is one way of reducing the gap between the KP and the K-3ii; it will reduce the KP's size advantage but reduce its power disadvantage. Presumably the "K-3ii replacement" will have a battery life more like the K-3ii than like the KP, but beyond that we will need more information before we can discuss the new camera intelligently.

What fun is that?

Is rational speculation not good enough? And the irrational speculation adds spice!

Honestly, the problem is that people gets their hopes up as a result of these discussions, and by the time actual facts are released, no camera could meet all expectations. This is what leads to later statements that a {former} Pentax user is switching to some other brand, despite the fact that brand also doesn't meet all expectations.

If it can put butter or jam on the toast at the same time, I'd definitely be in. But I'd rather it be an add-on feature. I don't want to get sand in the toaster if I go to the beach with it.
